Let’s start Friday off with a giveaway… shall we?
Last night my favorite Girl Scout dropped off my annual cookie order {because HELLO, Girl Scout cookies are a necessity people}.
I was a Girl Scout. I sold cookies, proudly wore my badge-filled sash and even had the most awesome time ever when I attended Girl Scout Camp during my middle school years. I was a tween and it was the. best.summer of my life. I learned to sail, used an outhouse, got my head checked for lice, made tiki torches out of Kotex pads {it’s a lost skill I tell you}, made arts and crafts, slept in a cabin with no doors, and sang some really cool camp songs that I still remember to this day. It was the seriously the best summer ever!
So in honor of my Girl Scout heritage, I am giving away 3 cases of Girl Scout Cookies: 1 case of Thin Mints, 1 case of Samoas and 1 case of Tagalongs {check out all the Girl Scout cookie descriptions if you don’t already know what they are}.
3 lucky readers will win 1 case of cookies. And no, you aren’t even required to share with your spouse, cat, kids or neighbors. But, if you win and you don’t want that temptation anywhere near you, I am more than happy to ship your case to any military member anywhere overseas. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
WHAT YOU WIN:
1 Case of Girl Scout Cookies
HOW YOU WIN IT:
Life’s pretty complicated sometimes, so I like to keep things simple around here. You have FIVE ways to enter: 1 required and 4 bonus entries. That means you can leave a total of FIVE comments below for FIVE awesome chances to win.
1. *REQUIRED ENTRY* Of the 3 types of cookies I’m giving away {Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs,} what is your very favorite cookie? Oh, and what will you do with your 12 boxes of Girl Scout cookies if you win? Eat them all? Share them? Give them away? Shellac them for all eternity? I want to know! Leave a comment below letting me know your answer.
2. *BONUS ENTRY* Do you like/friend/follow me yet? Pick one or all and like me/follow me/subscribe to me via one of these forms of social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and/or Google+! Leave a comment below with the name of the site you followed, ie. “liked you on Facebook and Instagram.” Only 1 comment/entry regardless of if you follow me on all 6 sites. Which you totally should anyway. 😉
3. *BONUS ENTRY* Start spreading the news. Share this giveaway with your peeps via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and/or Google+! If you don’t do the social media thing, just send out an old fashioned email about this awesome giveaway. Leave a comment below letting me know how you shared it.
4. *BONUS ENTRY* Head on over to my Facebook page and leave a comment on one of the posts or pictures there. Come back here and leave a comment below letting me know which post or picture you commented on.
5. *BONUS ENTRY* Subscribe to my daily emailed newsletter. It’s an easy peasy way to make sure you don’t miss a thing. Plus, I’m way too busy gardening to spam you, so your email address is safe with me. Leave a comment below letting me know you subscribed.
THE FINE PRINT:
5 entries per person/ip address. If you cheat, you will totally be disqualified.
This prize can be shipped anywhere on the planet earth. In previous years we sent cookies to someone’s daughter who was teaching English in Korea. So I mean it. I will ship these cookies anywhere. Girl Scout cookies rule!!!
This giveaway ends Sunday, March 8th, 2015 at 6pm PST and the winners will be announced in the Monday March 9th, 2015 edition of Mornings with Mavis. You will be notified via email and have 48 hours to claim your prize. If you do not respond, the prize will be forfeited after 48 hours and donated to operation cookie drop.
Good Luck. I hope you win. 🙂
Peace Out Girl Scouts!
♥ Mavis

Samoas are my favorite but if I won, I’d choose to have my cookies shipped to the troops. I’m moving in a few months and if I had a full case of Girl Scout cookies on top of what I already bought, I’d view that as a personal challenge to eat them all on my own.
Mary says
Also I follow you on Instagram and possibly Twitter as well.

Samoas, for sure! Did you know here in the midwest they don’t call them Samoas? They are called Caramel Delights! Weird, right? I have my Girl Scout nieces in Atlanta ship me REAL Samoas every year. I’d share one box with my boyfriend and the rest with my nieces when they come visit. 🙂
Victoria says
I just subscribed to your daily emailed newsletter.

I would hoard, er I mean, enjoy the Thin Mints.
I’d share with the kids at our school for homeless students. I’ve also learned how to make Thin Mint Ice Cream, so we’d have to enjoy some of that as wel.
Marybeth says
Thin mints! I will have to make room in the freezer because they are so yummy that way. I would share with my daughter away at school.
Carol Wheeler says
Thin Mints are the best ever! Every Sunday I bake cupcakes, cookies, or some great dessert, I even tried your banana pudding recipe and take it to the homeless teenage shelter first thing Monday morning. I really enjoy doing this and when they get home from school on Monday they have great treat that they can eat to start their week out. I really look forward to doing this and have been doing it since September. I think I get more out of it than them, but I would take the whole case to them. They need someone to care about them.
Julianne says
Samoas! and if I win, I’ll make it rain cookies!! hehe
Jill says
How to choose? I guess I would go with Tagalongs. Since I’ve just started watching what I eat more closely, I would drop these off at our local fire station.

although i would love to have a case in my house…if i won, it would probably be best to ship it to any military base overseas…they deserve a case of cookies for the work they do keeping us safe.
Pam says
Hi Mavis! I love Thin Mints. They still seem so new and modern to me, even though they are probably at least 20 years old by now 🙂 I follow you on FB and Instagram. I moved to a new town recently, so I will use the cookies to make some new friends, and share them with the few friends I have made. One family has three kids, and will be going through bankruptcy soon, so treats are always enjoyed and appreciated. Enjoy your day everyone!

Tina B says
I forgot to add what I would do with the case of cookies. I have 2 kids in college and of course would send at least half of the case up to them, so they can enjoy them and share with their roommates. The rest I would enjoy here, and share with my kids who live close by, and at home. Of course I would share with my amazing DH, too. He’s special enough to deserve my sharing cookies with him. 😉

Thin mints have always been my favorite. Take chocolate to start off and then add mint on top of it… there’s no way this girl can say ‘No’. If I won a box of these, I would probably hide them in my pantry and not tell my husband so that I can sneak them as like throughout the year. He would rather have the Tagalongs, but I would still have to hide Thin Mints from him if I actually wanted to get my hands on any of them before they were gone. I mean, we are talking about a man who can eat a large pumpkin pie from Costco in two sittings. 🙂

Samoas are my first favorite ,Thin Mints are a very close second ! If I won I would share with a few friends . My family would gladly polish off quite a few ! I was a Girl Scout leader and actually served on council level on the Cookie committee. It was so much fun ,tasting all the new cookies and also a lot of work, helping set up pick up for booth sales ! My troop learned so much selling cookies . We used our profit for several day trips and also used buying plants to help make our town look nicer( which we planted).

OMG You seriously are evil, you know that? haha! I am gaining a pound per minute just staring at this page craving Girl Scout Cookies… (while staring at my own box of Samoas and wondering if I should rip into another box today though they are reserved for the weekend)… But…. Samoas and Thin Mints are pretty much tied for my favorite… Until a few years back, Samoas had my vote, hands down… but I say Thin Mints probably have a slight lead these days. Love them!!!
Anna says
Thin mints – it wouldn’t be easy to part with them, but I’d have them all shipped to my nephew in the Marines!

Okay, now that I can see straight again … here’s my entry:

Thin Mints! I’ve given up ALL sweets for Lent (aaarrgghhhh), so if I were to win them, I’d hide them from my family in one of our freezers (they’d eat them all otherwise, before I had a chance to enjoy any!), and then I’d use them in my recipe for homemade vanilla ice cream after Lent is over.
Do a tutorial on those flaming Kotex pads! We weren’t fortunate enough to learn such things when I went to camp!

Hi, I would love a case of thin mints. I would eat them straight, eat them cold, bake them into brownies, bake them into cookies, sprinkle on some ice cream. But for the good of my bottom I should probably send the to someone else who can burn those calories off faster than me.
Cari says
I like the Samoas. I think they were called Kookaburras back in my selling days and they were rectangular too. I would only want one case to share with my husband and kids, save some for teacher gifts. I would want you to keep the other cases for Operation cookie drop.

Samoas just edge out Thin Mints, which just edge out the Tagalongs, in the cookie hierarchy. If I won a case of cookies, any flavor, I’d donate them to the local food bank–having issues digesting gluten and corn, it’s just not worth the gut-aches to eat the cookies myself.

My favorites are Tagalongs!!! I was a girl scout, too, and always asked my mom to order those. I unfortunately don’t have a neighborhood girl scout that goes door to door. I have to settle with getting lucky at the grocery stores. With my case of cookies, I would freeze most to enjoy later, and enjoy some today. I’ve been on a diet and lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks, so I think I deserve a little treat!! Pick me! 😀

Wow there are a gazillion entries. We have a small pantry in our town for single parents with infants. I’d like to give the cookies to them. I have to choose. I have always loved Thin Mints since my Girl Scout days back in the 1950s.
Will I share – you bet.
Cookies are best shared with friends.
Did you know that:
The sale of Girl Scout Cookies began in 1917 as a way for troops to be self-reliant and finance their own activities .
Five of the top selling cookies sold in the United States are Girl Scout Cookies; sales of Thin Mints surpassed those of Oreos in 2012, making Thin Mints the No. 1 selling cookie in the country.
Have some and read about the History of Girl Scout Cookies at http://www.girlscouts.org/program/gs_cookies/history.asp
