It is only January 16th and I have blown my entire budget for the month. To make things worse, the big Quaker sale is next week and I anticipate stocking up on a 1 year supply of oatmeal. During last years Quaker oatmeal sale I thought I had purchased enough to last us an entire year. But one day Black Fatty was cackling up a storm and to shut her up I tossed a few handfuls of oats to her. She ate her oats and was happy. But everyday afterwords she would come to the window and start-up with her noises again…and so I gave her more oatmeal… and so on and so on and so on. And that is why I ran out of oatmeal about 6 months into my 1 year stash. When the oatmeal was gone she threw a fit. I ignored her {which I should have done in the first place} and after a few days she got over it. Lesson learned. Oatmeal is an occasional treat {for chickens} not a daily meal.
Here is what I picked up this week:
Costco $5.39 For some odd reason Monkey and The Girl are drinking more milk than normal.
Albertsons $3.00 Pie crusts were on clearance!
Albertsons Double Coupon Shopping Trip $28.14
The 39 pomegranates, 45 salad dressings, 4 soy sauces and a bunch of other things were free.
My basic strategy was to use 72 razor coupons to earn as much overage for the items that were not going to be free. For instance. One of my transactions was for 3 packs of Activia yogurt. This is what my transaction looked like:
Activia Yogurt $2.50 each {bought 3}
Schick Razors $1.59 each {bought 3}
Doubled {3} $1/1 Activia Coupons 1/15/12 SS
Used {3} $2.00 Schick Razor Coupons 1/8/12 SS
Final Price: $.67 {tax on the razors}
Total Spent This Week $36.53 + I earned $12 in Albertsons Store coupons/catalinas to use on my next trip.
Total Spent This Year $101.70
Total Spent on Garden Seeds/Supplies $0 {I placed an order and will count it as money spend when my purchase arrives}.

My jaw drops every time I see what you get for such little money…. Keep it up!! We don’t have an Albertsons, and it seems the best deals are there 🙁

Mavis,
FYI, if you have a 20% discount at Rite Aid, milk is only $2/gallon. It used to be yucky, but they have recently changed brands and it is very yummy now!

Curious…what are you going to do with your poms? Any recipes to share? I bought a few and plan on making some chutney with them for my chicken and pork, but with all those any ideas? Jelly? Grenadine…thats one of my favs!
I love them, but my neighbor said they are the “weirdest” fruits around! 🙂

I don’t yet. I’m going to look up some recipes this afternoon. 🙂 If I find a good one I’ll post it. 🙂

Is the Quaker Sale something I will see in my store, or is it just a local thing there??

Have you already pre-ordered your oatmeal? Sadly today I had to rethink my catalina deals because my store was out of Finish. Apparently the warehouse was on backorder. Hopefully they’ll get some tomorrow night. I am amazed at how much you were able to get for so little. Then again that happens all the time. Envious of the snow!

Hi Desi, I’ve been playing in the snow all day. I just got the ad in hand and I am a wee bit disappointed. I’ll post some pictures of it later tonight when I get a chance.
