Albertsons $15.54 {Toilet Paper not included}
Have you been to Albertsons lately? Oh my word are the prices dropping over there or what? Seriously, if Albertsons keeps lowering their prices like they have been, I think I’ll be shopping there a lot more often.
I don’t know about your Albertsons, but the produce department at mine keeps having manager specials for really random items. Last time around it was peaches for $.50 a pound, this time I was able to pick up 10 ounce tubs of salted almonds and chocolate covered peanuts for a buck. A buck! What a deal.
Local Fruit Stand $3.84
3 peppers for $1, 3 cucumbers for $1, fresh spinach and broccoli for stir fry.
Even though the HOA chopped down most of the blackberries in the neighborhood, The Girl and I were still able to find a few. Some people think blackberry bushes are a pain, but not me.
And last but not least, here is a sampling of what we picked from our backyard garden.
Life is good!
How did YOU do this week shopping for groceries? Find any great deals?

Well, I shopped my local farmer’s market this weekend. WOW is all I have to say. Bushel of Roma tomatoes (for my killer tomato sauce I put up every year) I had to pre order but what the heck, for $12.00 so I ordered 2. That’ll keep me canning for a while! Green peppers 6 for 1.50, and homemade pasta (I haven’t gotten the hang of it yet), garlic/chive and tomato/basil for $4. So, $29.50 for all that, I know sounds like a lot but TWELVE BUCKS for a bushel of Roma’s? Hot dog is that a good price here in the mid west! Plus the usual $20 for pick 5 on meat (5 meat items for that price), the chicken local raised and not loaded with water/chemicals. PLUS my box of reclaimed produce of red potatoes, lettuce, spinach, zucchini and some onions this time. So I suppose that $49.50 and another $25 for the free stuff equals a good week!

I mean $25 IN free produce oops. 😉

Since Albertsons went back to the original company in June, we have had fabulous deals. No double coupons, but 3 doubled vs unlimited hot deals. I will take the deals. They had JIF peanut butter for .99 a couple of weeks ago. They have had any of their canned everyday essentials beans or tomato products for .39 about 6 weeks ago. Each week they have at least 2 or 3 killer deals to help the budget. Hope you recover from your dental surgery. But maybe you need to take 2 whole days of lounging around begging for sympathy to recoup from your last 2 weeks of fun craziness.

I wish I could comment about our Albertsons, but sadly the company shut the La Grande doors about a year ago. Now we have the big Mart store, and Safeway (sad face). I miss it very much. I will say that every so often it’s worth the hour drive to the next closest Alberstsons to hit some KILLER deals in the meat dept.

I usually avoid Albertsons, since it was more expensive than other stores, but I’ll check it out soon! I do my big shopping at Winco, but go to Safeway for some items. I love how Safeway has 50% off stickers on soon-to-expire juices, yogurts, cheese, etc. Also, in the ready-to-eat deli area, they often have 50% off. Stuff like pre-made sandwiches, hummus and dip cups, family size meals, the sides like mac and cheese or mashed potatoes. I wander the aisles looking for bright 50% off labels!
Just today I got my son’s favorite strawberry/banana/orange juice 50% off (last week I got two cartons on clearance!), plus a container of Minute Maid lemonade. I usually find shredded cheese I freeze, and there are always yogurts. The meat section has “manager specials” which used to say “clearance.” I won’t buy the 30% off, but get 50% off beef all the time to freeze. Usually steaks, which besides barbequing I cut up for fajitas, stew, or use as pot roast. I never buy the 50% off milk or chicken. I did before and both were bad. Also, I make sure to check out the 50% racks. I found discontinued cat food 50%, the kind my cats love! Also a Brita Water Filter. They also have a 50% frozen food section (where differs store to store) where I got packages of egg rolls and spring rolls.
My tomatoes, peppers, green beans, and cucumbers are keeping us in veggies!
Oh, a side note… the mail just came. I got one of those peacock hair clips you showed a few weeks ago, from Amazon, via Hong Kong. It was 91 cents, including postage, and it is nicer quality than I thought it would be! I am saving it for my daughter’s Christmas stocking. A peacock is perfect, as she attends a cosmetology school where the emblems and decor are peacocks!
Thanks for showing those inexpensive little extras!

I haven’t been to Albertson’s in ages! It is the furthest store from home and usually not worth the time and effort. Maybe I’ll give it a try. I do most of my fill-in shopping at Winco.
I have been up to my elbows in mountains of green beans, zucchini and pattypans. Just froze a bunch this morning while it was cool. Corn is right around the corner!!
On a happy, happy note….my “girls” are finally laying! First egg on the 17th – and within a day the other 2 are producing. So proud of them 🙂
