My favorite is the apple as well! Simple and perfect.

Do people really do this stuff? We find a chair with nobody in it & sit down. 😉

Angie, Your comment made me laugh – loved it!!!

I love the apple! I also love the candy cornucopias – maybe fore the dessert table for the kids. 🙂
I’ve never been to a Thanksgiving where there were place cards or even a centerpiece for that matter. I felt all grown up once I graduated from a bunny table to a card table and now I’m really old so I sit on the couch because the real table is for all the Aunts and Uncles. haha.

My girls used to do place cards for get-togethers when they were younger, folded card stock decorated with markers, stampers and stickers. Thanksgiving has been at my house the last 20 years and youngest attendee is 22 unless you count all the visiting dogs. There are some seats that just are standard, like mine closest to kitchen door and my mother next to me. Husband head of the table…everyone fills in where they want.
I like the cornucopia and would use that idea if ever had youngsters at a gathering. Good for a Sunday School or other craft project too. I like the mini pumpkins but those go for 2.50 each here unless you grow your own. Not putting out $40 for centerpieces. I like the apple for utility, won’t be wasted, may possibly even be eaten. If not, return to fridge drawer.

The apple and the pear are my favorites…you could alternate (;

Oh, I like the alternating idea, could even add a pomegranate or so.

My daughters always fight over who gets to sit next to who. So maybe this year I’ll have them do the apple place cards with the reclaimed apples we get!
Kristin says
If you’re looking for casual, I think the Apple, Pear or Pumpkin are my favorite. A little fancier, I absolutely LOVE the paper turkey! That being said, we stick with the kids pulling out paper, crayons, markers, etc… and making the place cards. 🙂

The apple could be made much more fancy/formal – just use sparkly gold ribbon in place of the string. 😉
