My plan for May was to spend only $75 on groceries. But with a mini stock up trip at Costco and stops at 3 different farmers markets in May, I went over my budget. Hey, it happens. Some months you spend more than others, no big deal, right?
Here’s a look at some of the meals we ate last week:
Pickety bits. Who needs an oven when you can just eat cheese and crackers all the time? Works for me! 🙂
Panera copy cat tomato soup for 2 {but really just one becuase I love it so much that I had to have 2 portions}.
We went out for fish tacos for the HH’s birthday!
And came home to find a care package from his Mom on the front porch.
A box of fresh fruits and vegetables!!! Who wouldn’t love that!?
It included the biggest head of bok choy on the planet.
And some gorgeous carrots too along with citrus, mangos, avocados, fresh ginger, garlic and a ton of other magical fruity things.
We made smoothies.
And had broccoli and buttered rice.
And burrito bowls too.
I even saved the orange peels {to sell on Etsy later this summer of course}. 🙂
And if the birthday box of fresh fruit and vegetables wasn’t exciting enough, about an hour later, a box of Grater’s ice cream arrived!! Holy cannolis, how cool was that?
All in all it was a fantastic week in the food department here at Camp Butterfield. A few favorites, a few surprises and lot’s and lot’s of cheese and crackers. Life is good!
What did meal time look like at YOUR place last week?
And aren’t care packages the coolest gifts ever?

We haven’t had any really exciting meals lately, but I’m making frosted lemonade for dessert tonight and am very excited about that.
Mavis Butterfield says
That sounds like a cake Mel, is it?
Mel says

No problem! I’ve loved a lot of recipes from that site over the years. I think I might try her no-bake lemonade pie next.

Your husband has a really great mom! Very thoughtful. Produce and ice cream, perfect! Those fish tacos look awesome.
Meal time was kinda busy here this past week. My next door neighbor had a baby boy (her first!), so her sister set up a meal chain to help the new parents out. I made stuffed peppers, a huge green salad (with crumbled bacon and pickled beets included!) and a chocolate snacking cake one day. Than for Memorial Day, I signed up and made potato salad, hamburger beans, grilled hots, deviled eggs and a fruit salad. They dined alfresco on their back deck, and I heard lots of moans and smacking as they ate…I think they enjoyed their meal! 🙂
