I came up with 12 goals Iβd like to accomplish this year with the hopes of being able to cross one off my list per month to make them more manageable. I thought a great way to hold myself accountable to the things I want to accomplish this year would be to do a weekly update.
After all, we all need a little help staying motivated sometimes. Here’s how I am doing so far:
1. Clean, de-clutter and organize my entire home in 30 days or less. Done! π
So far this year I have cleaned my closet, decluttered my bathroom, organized my office, gutted the garage, and tackled the laundry room. This week I plan on wiping down all the baseboard and cabinets. Totally boring I know, but it needs to get done.
2. Fit into the same jeans I wore 8 years ago when we moved into our house. Even though I’ve been logging at least 10,000 steps a day on the pedometer since we’ve been back, I can’t seem to wiggle into those pants yet. Maybe it would help if I stopped eating dessert. But I can’t, because it tastes so darn good.
3. Travel. Maybe I’m getting old, but I am still TIRED from our trip and we’ve been back over a week! I guess that’s what happens when you party like a rockstar and stuff your face full of pastries. π
4. Send my daughter to college without having a nervous breakdown thus spending a week in bed sobbing. Ha!
5. Get 3 new teeth. π Third times a charm right? Yep, the screw fell out of my jaw again last night… and The Girl popped it back in. What did the HH have to say about it? “Can’t you just Super Glue it in or something?”
Yes dear, that would be wise. Sheesh!
6. Pay off my car. – The plan is to pay it off this month!
7. Finish the primitive folk art rug I started 4 years ago. I couldn’t take it any longer and broke down and bought a rug hooking frame. Hopefully it will arrive later this week and hooking this massive area rug will be a bit easier. In addition to hooking one star a week, I’ve also been working on a few side projects in my spare time.
8. Family Day. Do one thing together as a family every Sunday. – Success! My parents came over on Sunday and we celebrated my Mothers birthday as well as my own. Geez… I’m officially getting old. My parents took us out for Mexican food and thank goodness the restaurant staff did not sing to us.
9. Secret Plan #1 – Working on it! π
10. Secret Plan #2 – Scheming away
11. Secret Plan #3
12. Convince the HH we should buy a Salt Box Style House in Colonial Williamsburg. Now I want a Saltbox house in Massachusetts. I haven’t added anything to my Saltbox board on Pinterest lately, so if you see a good house I should add to it, send me a link. π
13. Spend at least 1 hour a day working in my garden. Does trying to train Lucy the Puggle trouble in the garden count? Honestly it’s been nothing but rain here lately so I’m doing more gardening inside than outside lately.
So there you have it, my goals for the new year.
How about YOU? How are your 2014 goals coming along?
~Mavis
P.S. YES, I know I wrote down 13 goals. Iβm fairly certain I wonβt be able to attain one of them. {gee, I wonder which one?} But I wanted to add it in there anyway because I believe in miracles.

Your in great shape and don’t need to fit into those OLD jeans! My oldest daughter is off to college this fall too and I think it’s going to be the hardest thing not seeing her every day…I’ll be crying right there with you! It’s crazy that you hook rugs because my grandma used to hook rugs, in fact I have a santa clause she hooked and I put it up every Christmas. She was in a rug hooking group with several other grandma’s (and one young girl) and they would meet once a month for a few hours and work on their projects together. They thought it was funny to call themselves HOOKERS! π

#4 – Off to college
My son will be a senior next year than off to college, so I have been giving this a lot of thought. Just wondering if you have discovered any great ways to save on college? He is our only kid and I will miss him so much that I decided I will be going with him and of course he does not know this yet!
