I came up with 12 goals I’d like to accomplish this year with the hopes of being able to cross one off my list per month to make them more manageable. I thought a great way to hold myself accountable to the things I want to accomplish this year would be to do a weekly update.
After all, we all need a little help staying motivated sometimes. Here’s how I am doing so far:
1. Clean, de-clutter and organize my entire home in 30 days or less. – So far this year I have cleaned my closet, organized my kitchen, decluttered my bathroom, organized my office, gutted the garage, and tackled the laundry room. Last week pulling weeds is high on my list.
2. Fit into the same jeans I wore 8 years ago when we moved into our house. – You know that moment when you realize you are a TOTAL DORK and there is nothing you can do about it? OH MY WORD!!! I just watched the TV Segment I did on New Day Northwest with Francisco this week and holy cannoli’s…. I totally forgot to take off my pedometer and went on live tv looking like a total weirdo.
Why does my family let me out of the house alone? Seriously.
3. Travel. So far this year The Girl and I have been to Boston, London, Paris and now Portland, Oregon. We are thinking about heading to Maine for a week this summer. How cool would that be? So if you’ve ever been to Maine and you know of some good rentals or towns/ sites we should visit, let us know.
4. Send my daughter to college without having a nervous breakdown thus spending a week in bed sobbing. Less than 90 days until she leaves. 🙁 Note to self: Buy tissues. Lots and lots of tissues.
5. Get 3 new teeth. – I still have one more check up to go before I get the go ahead.
7. Finish this primitive folk art rug I started 4 years ago. Apparently Lucy loves this rug because whenever I put it on the floor to photograph it she just has to walk/lay/sleep on it. What a nut.
8. Family Day. Do one thing together as a family every Sunday. The boys went golfing and The Girl and I did a few arts and crafts projects. But we all ate sunday dinner together… does that count?
9. Secret Plan #1 – Working on it.
10. Secret Plan #2 Still plotting away.
11. Secret Plan #3
12. Convince the HH we should buy a Salt Box Style House in Colonial Williamsburg. I told the HH I was going to call a realtor today to get some more info. 😉 Also, check out this garden gate/path combo. Isn’t it dreamy? The world would be such a happier place if we all had a garden gate like that don’t you think?
13. Spend at least 1 hour a day working in my garden. I think I should start burying treats in my backyard just so Lucy the puggle dog can find them. What do you think? Do normal people do stuff like that?
So there you have it, my goals for the new year.
How about YOU? How are your 2014 goals coming along?

P.S. YES, I know I wrote down 13 goals. I’m fairly certain I won’t be able to attain one of them. {gee, I wonder which one?} But I wanted to add it in there anyway because I believe in miracles.

We play “find the treat” with our border collie x. She has to wait outside of an area/room while we hide treats and we call her in to find them. It’s her favorite game and it keeps her mind active 🙂

You are going to spent a week crying. There is no way around it but the time you spend crying does lessen with each one. I spent a month crying, 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after, worn my oldest!

I know. I am trying to convince myself it will be fine, but deep down, I know that I am going to fall apart {maybe not even that deep down}.

Mavis,
If it makes you feel better, I watched the segment and didn’t even notice it!

It makes me feel a little better. Thanks!

If you go to Maine, you have to stop by cape Elizabeth and eat at the lobster shack. It has beautiful views of the ocean with great food. Or go to the lobster festival in august! It’s in Rockland Maine. They have all sorts of beautiful crafts and arts and of course seafood

Thanks for the tip. We will definitely put it on the to-do list if we go.
