I came up with 12 goals Iโd like to accomplish this year with the hopes of being able to cross one off my list per month to make them more manageable. I thought a great way to hold myself accountable to the things I want to accomplish this year would be to do a weekly update.
After all, we all need a little help staying motivated sometimes. Here’s how I am doing so far:
1. Clean, de-clutter and organize my entire home in 30 days or less. – So far this year I have cleaned my closet, organized my kitchen, decluttered my bathroom, organized my office, gutted the garage, and tackled the laundry room. Yep. My house is still as clean as a whistle.
2. Fit into the same jeans I wore 8 years ago when we moved into our house.
Making progress, I think. I told you last time I was giving myself until the end of September to fit into my old jeans. And I’m sticking to it. There’s no point in depriving myself cookies and cake during the holidays just so I can fit into a silly old pair of jeans.
3. Travel. So far this year I have been to Boston, London, Paris, Portland, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia and Victoria B.C.
4. Send my daughter to college without having a nervous breakdown thus spending a week in bed sobbing. Done! She’s having a blast and lucky for me she likes talking/texting daily. ๐ Life is good.
5. Get 3 new teeth. – Do I want teeth… or a new laundry room? Decisions, decisions.
6. Pay off my car. Done!
7. Finish this primitive folk art rug I started 4 years ago. Finished! It took me 6 months but I’m done.
8. Do something together as a family ever Sunday. We watched the Seahawks play of course!
9. Secret Plan #1 – Done! – I’ll tell you about it at some point.
10. Secret Plan #2 Making progress… 13 days to go.
11. Secret Plan #3
12. Convince the HH we should buy a Salt Box Style House in Colonial Williamsburg. Done! We didn’t buy a house in Colonial Williamsburg, but I did find us a vacation house on the east coast and we LOVE it. But that doesn’t seems to stop the peeps at Colonial Williamsburg from sending us note cards and calendars about every 6 weeks. ๐
13. Spend at least 1 hour a day working in my garden. This past week we harvested beans, zucchini, tomatoes, cabbage apples and kale from the garden. It’s been busy! Things should start to slow down here pretty soon and let me tell you Bob, I’m ready for a break.
So there you have it, my goals for the new year.
How about YOU? How are your 2014 goals coming along?
~Mavis
P.S. YES, I know I wrote down 13 goals. Iโm fairly certain I wonโt be able to attain one of them. {gee, I wonder which one?} But I wanted to add it in there anyway because I believe in miracles.

Teeth, Mavis, get your teeth and put that journey behind you……always next year for remodeling the utility/laundry room!

Much appreciate your posting the progress of your goals. It is interesting and I’ve been cheering you on ::)
I have a smaller list and have accomplished some, some are still works in progress.

Yup, I vote for the teeth rather than the laundry room, too. As you get older, having decent teeth is going to get ever more important. I’ve got a couple of implants, and I LOVE them – though I didn’t love the process all that much! Get ‘er done!

Definitely teeth. You will not regret it. Not one little bit!

Did you share pictures of the new house yet, or did I miss it?
Mavis Butterfield says
Not yet, maybe next week though. ๐
