I came up with 12 goals I’d like to accomplish this year with the hopes of being able to cross one off my list per month to make them more manageable. I thought a great way to hold myself accountable to the things I want to accomplish this year would be to do a weekly update.
After all, we all need a little help staying motivated sometimes. Here’s how I am doing so far:
1. Clean, de-clutter and organize my entire home in 30 days or less. – So far this year I cleaned my closet, organized my kitchen, decluttered my bathroom, organized my office, gutted the garage, and tackled the laundry room. But that was at the old house.
The kitchen counter tops and flooring is suppose to be installed later this week and once that’s done, I’ll finally be able to unpack all the kitchen boxes. Unfortunately I won’t be able to cook anything though until the electricians hook up everything. Also, our old kitchen table might be too big for the nook area. Which totally bums me out because I love it so.
2. Fit into the same jeans I wore 8 years ago when we moved into our {now old} house.
And to think I almost gave up. Do you see that? Poor muffin top…. where did she go? 😉
Now, I’m not sure if it was the It Works Ultimate Body Applicator my friend Wendy had me try {I wrapped twice} or working as Chino the Handyman’s sidekick knocking down walls and picking up trash 8 hours a day, {or if it was a combination of the two} but let me just say this… the muffin top is gone and I am finally able to fit into the same jeans I wore on move in day 8 years ago when we bought our last house.
Woooo Stinkin’ Hoooo!
3. Travel. So far this year I have been to Boston, London, Paris, Portland, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia and Victoria B.C. I just cashed in my points for another plane ticket. Wahoo!
4. Send my daughter to college without having a nervous breakdown thus spending a week in bed sobbing. Done! She’s having a blast and lucky for me she likes talking/texting daily. 🙂 She’s been working really hard lately so I decided to send her a little distraction. 😉
5. Get 3 new teeth. – I just looked on the calendar and noticed I have an appointment for next week. We’ll see if I keep it.
6. Pay off my car. Done! I’m pretty sure the Volvo wagon was the best car that was ever invented.
7. Finish this primitive folk art rug I started 4 years ago. Finished! It took me 6 months but I’m done {I’m working on a second one and I hope to have it finished by Thanksgiving}.
8. Do something together as a family ever Sunday. We spent last Sunday doing fun stuff like cleaning out the garage, shopping for bathroom fixtures and painting the walls downstairs. Yee-Haw.
9. Secret Plan #1 – Sell our house. It felt like it took us forever, but we were finally able to downsize both our home and yard and let me tell you Bob, it feels good. Really, really good.
10. Secret Plan #2 Buy a smaller house. Done!
11. Secret Plan #3 – Working on it. 😉
12. Convince the HH we should buy a Salt Box Style House in Colonial Williamsburg. Done! We didn’t buy a house in Colonial Williamsburg, but I did find us a vacation house on the east coast and we LOVE it. Each time I visit I check out the local thrift store to find “stuff” for the new place. So far so I’ve been pretty lucky.
13. Spend at least 1 hour a day working in my garden. On the agenda this week: get the other side of the patio weeds pulls {if it ever stops raining}
So there you have it, my goals for the new year.
How about YOU? How are your 2014 goals coming along?
~Mavis
P.S. YES, I know I wrote down 13 goals. I’m fairly certain I won’t be able to attain one of them. {gee, I wonder which one?} But I wanted to add it in there anyway because I believe in miracles.

Congratulations on the jeans fitting, that’s awesome!

Thanks!

Good job on the jeans. That is quite an accomplishment, especially with all the traveling you’ve done this year. I came back from 10 days overseas to London, England, and all around Germany with 10 extra lbs on board. They are gone now and I’ve reached my weight loss goal after over 2 years of effort, but it feels so amazing, doesn’t it? Congratulations!!!

Whoo hoo! Awesome job!

I think the reason the muffin top is gone is because you can’t make muffins (or scones or cookies) without an oven!
Mavis says
I think you are so right!!

Can you share the cost of the wrap?
Wendy Lewkowicz says
Kathy, hey the wraps are $100 for a pack of 4 as a retail customer or as a loyal customer they are only $59 for 4. You can check out my website and see everything there or send me a message on my website. http://www.beingthebestyou.net
