I came up with 12 goals Iโd like to accomplish this year with the hopes of being able to cross one off my list per month to make them more manageable. I thought a great way to hold myself accountable to the things I want to accomplish this year would be to do a weekly update.
After all, we all need a little help staying motivated sometimes. Here’s how I am doing so far:
1. Clean, de-clutter and organize my entire home in 30 days or less.
So far this year I haveย cleaned my closet, decluttered my bathroom, organized my office, gutted the garage, and tackled the laundry room. Surprisingly, with the exception of the kitchen, everything is still organized. Go Team!
2. Fit into the same jeans I wore 8 years ago when we moved into our house. Bahhhhaha. I just put on a pair of my regular jeans and I can hardly zip them up. Hmmm, must of been all those pastries. ๐
The Girl and I had a blast on our annual February vacation, but with no new vacations on the calendar I’m actually looking forward to taking a break and staying home for a few months.
4. Send my daughter to college without having a nervous breakdown thus spending a week in bed sobbing. You know, I think I’ll just enroll in college myself. Then I could go to school with her. How does that sound?
Oh please, I can’t even keep the screws in my mouth. At this point it will be a miracle if I ever get teeth.
6. Pay off my car. – I’m hoping to be able to pay it off next month. ๐ ๐ ๐
7. Finish the primitive folk art rug I started 4 years ago. Since lugging a huge 4×8 {or is it 5×8?} rug on a plane and all over Europe was just too much of a hassle, I brought along a much smaller primitive hooked rug to work on this past week instead. And you know what? I finished it. If you want to see some pictures of it, let me know and I’ll try and post them.
8. Family Day. Do one thing together as a family every Sunday. We were out of town last week so this one didn’t happen. But, we have something cool planned for this weekend so I’m excited.
9. ย Secret Plan #1 – Still working on it.
10. Secret Plan #2
11. Secret Plan #3
12. Convince the HH we should buy a Salt Box Style House in Colonial Williamsburg. Hold the phone people. After seeing all the cool cottages on our walk to Kew Gardens last week, I can’t stop thinking about how cool living in one of them would be. But then again, none of them really hard a yard, which would be a big downer for me.
13. Spend at least 1 hour a day working in my garden.
I didn’t get to spend anytime in the garden last week but I have a huge to do list and playing in the dirt and planting seeds is at the top of it and can’t wait to get outside and do something.
So there you have it, my goals for the new year.
How about YOU? How are your 2014 goals coming along?
~Mavis
P.S. YES, I know I wrote down 13 goals. Iโm fairly certain I wonโt be able to attain one of them. {gee, I wonder which one?}ย ย But I wanted to add it in there anyway because I believe in miracles.ย

There should be a parent (read Mom) and kid two for one special when you apply to college. I am ok with not sharing a dorm room and just being down the hall! I told my son when he goes we are going to be the bestest booster parents he ever saw. Got the eye roll reaction for that comment.
Mavis Butterfield says
Me too. We can get some cool parent jackets made up. ๐

I love Kew Gardens and the cottages that you pass by on the way to the Gardens! Thanks for sharing your pictures.
