It was so much fun to read about where everyone wanted to travel to if they were going to go on a solo adventure. And also super funny that someone got pretty close to where I’ll be headed soon. 😉
Take An Adult Education Class.
I still have no idea about this one. Maybe something artsy or maybe something like a cooking class. It would be fun though to do something totally out of the box though.
Revisit An Old Friend.
Working on it!

Make 12 Totally British Recipes In The AGA.
This of course is if I actually get my AGA this year. 😉
Set Aside 200 Items For A Yard Sale
I had planned to go though my kitchen this past week and weed out anything I didn’t think we needed for the yard sale pile but had so many other things on my plate that I didn’t get the chance.
I will start with the kitchen though as it seems the easiest place to begin.

Go On a Staycation/Craftcation With The Girl
Holing up somewhere to work on crafts and ordering room service for a few days seems like a totally fun thing to strive for don’t you think? The only rule is, the hotel has to be free {presumably with credit card points.} And there will be matching flannel pajamas.
Turn The Craft Room Into a Proper Studio Space
First things first though… I have to get organized enough {and by that I mean have every pattern/kit drawn up, packaged and in stock and oodles of wool bundles dyed} before I can pull everything out of the craft room and start with the re-do.
Changes I plan on making to the space:
- Rip out the old gross carpet and replace it with pine floors
- Fresh paint
- A proper light fixture
- New serger
- New work table
- A sitting area with a spot to hook
Hook 100 Rugs
I’ll do a final count at the end of the month but here’s one I recently finished.
Create 15 New Rug Hooking Patterns
I’m off to a good start!
New patterns I’ve added to my Etsy shop in 2023:
- Antique Hearts and Flowers
- Fat Cat with Hearts
- Horse and Hearts
- Valentine Kitties
- Little Chicken
- Hit and Miss Flower Basket
Grow 1,000 Pounds of Vegetables In The Commune Sized Garden
I won’t be growing anything for a few more months. 🙂
Empty The Canning Cupboard / Fill The Canning Cupboard
Note to self: Don’t make as much jam this year.
Make $500 Selling Plants, Flowers or Vegetables
The Duck Lady said I could bring any plants, flowers or vegetables to her stand and sell them there this summer. I’ll probably start with tulips or French breakfast radishes.
Buy 12 Handmade Items {From 12 Different Artists}
Hopefully I’ll have something to show you soon. 🙂
Update Every Single Recipe On The Blog To A Printable Format
Recipes updated so far: 0 This is going to be my least favorite goal but I plan I think I’ll on it start tonight and see if I can get 12 recipes updated and in a printable format by next weekend.
26 Official Date Days With My Handsome Husband

How about YOU? How are you coming along with your goals for this year? Have you made them yet? If not, HOP TO IT!!!

Is your wool studio in your basement? Only reason that I ask is that a window with natural light is so helpful for hooking and deciding what colors of wool you are using.
Can’t wait for your solo trip….sounds like a fun adventure.

You could sell your leftover jams (and anything else you don’t anticipate making it through) at the Duck Lady’s stand to help clean out the canning cupboard. The downside to that is you’d probably miss those amazing canning jars.

Don’t know about any classes but since you at one time wanted birdhouses and now that you’re a farmer, why not grow gourds. You and The Girl could even paint them. Also any leftovers you might want to sell.

That is a great idea!

My goals are pretty similar from last year:
-Save a bunch of money & fund the boys college accounts
-Help my teens with “life” stuff (SAT prep, course selection, driving lessons, college planning, job applications)
-Quit my job & enjoy a summer without work
-Make $1500 in side hustle
-Plan two international trips (& stick to the budget) to Dubai & France
-Lose 10 lbs & stay in shape, do a better job of tracking my calories.

Hello, is there a way to subscribe to your blog? I would love to get updates via email. Thanks.
My goals? To always be a better person, spend more time in my sewing room, stop thinking I have to be busy all the time, be present, eat healthier foods, walk more.

Some people find it easier to start with a bathroom–how many towels do you really need and how much old medicines and makeup can you throw away?
Maybe you could put extra jams and jellies on the Duck Lady’s farm stand?

You are going to visit your friend in Tasmania?!?!

Mavis — You should say “sustainably harvested” for your random items for Etsy. Very of the moment, and probably more accurate than “organically . . . ”

How did you decide which free items to sell on eBay? Seems like you have a knack for knowing what people want.
Great start to the year!

I’ll just comment on some of my 23 for ’23…
*floss at night–doing great!
*bed by 11/up by 6:15–slow start to this one
*stretching and core work in morning–not great
*track my runs each day–SO FUN! I have a planned color scheme for each month–cools for January; pinks for February; greens for March….definitely a motivator!
*run 750 miles–I am averaging an amount that will get me there!
*read as many books of my “To Read Later” list as I can–I finished one book and am currently reading 2 others. So excited to get to so many books that I’ve put off because they didn’t fit a category in the last 4 Reading Challenges I’ve participated in!
*keep track of found money–last year was a dud with finding less than $4. The year before was $27.08 (found a $20 bill). Typically I find between $7 and $8. So far this year I’m at $.02.
*bless someone each week–I’m good for the first 2 weeks. Been trying think what I will do for the 3rd week….
*date DH once/month–went out to dinner. I’m very excited about February’s date…(surprise for him!)
*And my BONUS goal is to change my non-used Instagram account to document what interesting “find” every time I go out for a run. This is to get me to be more creative. It’s been fun looking for something photo-worthy each day. I figured out my Insta password and changed my “title”. I think tomorrow I’ll start posting the first week’s worth of photos….

Start with your enchilada sauce recipe. I’ve been using it for years!

You commented that you aren’t going to can as much this year, what if you did rotation canning? I skipped making jam and jellies last year because I too had too much! This year I am going to pick two jams to can then next year I will pick two different ones. The idea is to have enough that I can rotate out the old and bring in the new without doing so much and without having a ton to spare. I gave allot to my daughter and her husband and our two sets of parents as well. What I don’t enjoy is with produce coming on all at once it seems, you don’t get to enjoy the summer and fall where we live. Freezing what you can process later is a trick I finally figured out a year ago! lol Putting things up in the winter to help keep humidity in the house was so much more enjoyable! I agree with those that have said you could have sold the hearts for more! Dividing them into two boxes for $24 each they still would have sold as fast!
