This week I’m giving away 2 Autographed Barefoot Contessa Books

The Girl and I heard Ina Garten was coming to town and decided to buy a pair of tickets at the last minute.  Full price tickets were $54 each, but we were able to find half price tickets on GoldStarEvents.com.  Ina and local chef Greg Atkinson sat in over-sized chairs on stage and chatted for over an hour before taking questions from the audience members.

My favorite part about the whole event {besides the part where I made an idiot of myself and said “I think you’re awesome” as she signed my books} was when a lady asked Ina what were some of the crazy things companies tried to get her to sell over the years.

Ina laughed, and said someone wanted her to sell a line of Barefoot Contessa clothing.

Her response?

“I wear the same outfit everyday,” she said as she starting laughing again.

It was awesome.  Her response to that comment made my day.

All you have to do to enter this giveaway is leave a comment on this post letting me know which book you would prefer to win.  And if you have a favorite Barefoot Contessa recipe,  please share that too.

My daughter loves to make Ina’s Brownie Pudding every year on Christmas Eve for dessert.  Have you tried it?  It is da’ bomb.

    I love Ina Garten! When I was in high school and all I watched was cooking shows and DIY, everyone thought I was weird. Now I am 25 and gardening, cooking from scratch, raising chickens (and hopefully goats this spring). I would be so honored to take home either of these cookbooks! I am north of Seattle a bit, but I had no idea she was coming to town and wish I would have known.

    My favorite recipe of Ina’s that I make all the time is Ricotta Herb cheese. It is a recipe for making ricotta from scratch and seasoning it. I will never buy store ricotta again after using her recipe.

    The Barefoot Contessa CookBook rocks. As with all cookbooks, at some point we lent it out . . . but never got it back. To say that there is hole in the shelf would be an understatement. I would love to replace it!

    I love Ina’s recipes. I use and modify so many of them for our weekly menus. Her potato salad, tri berry muffins, and chocolate cupcakes are some of my very favorite. I’d love either of these to add to my cookbook collection. thanks for the giveaway!

    I don’t have a favorite recipe, but that is because I don’t have one of her books! I watched her when she was on Martha Stewart and I only remember that I incorporated something she taught into my everyday cooking. My 2nd daughter is studying culinary arts and I would love to give it to her.

    I’d love either one, but if I have to choose, I think it would be the family one.

    I like her show. She doesn’t pull all the antics so many of the TV chefs do, just such a classy lady and show. Have you seen her biography (Foodography, as they call it on the Food Channel), it is very interesting.

    Since my granddaughter was barely one, she began watching “Ina” w/ her Mom and I, so 3 generations have been her fans for years. We love her cobblers, made w/ fresh berries and peaches, and we love her roasted veggies.

I love her show and make lots of her recipes, she has changed my cooking style, for the better, forever.     I love Barefoot Contessa. she is awesome! I use her pesto recipe, also her potato gratin recipe, and oven baked shrimp scampi. And if you want to go to chocolate heaven, try her chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting.
    I am sure both books are superb. I would choose to win the family style cookbook.

    Ina Gartin! Love her, love her cookbooks. My family’s favorites are from her back to basics cookbook. I regularly make her spanokopita and every Christmas my daughter asks for her apple & cherry turnovers for Christmas morning breakfast. I would love either book if choosen. 🙂

    I would love to have either cookbook, but would probably prefer the Barefoot Contessa Cookbook. My husband and I are huge fans of her Lobster Roll recipe (listed below). We don’t get a huge chance to get a lot of good lobster in New Mexico, but on occasion we do get it. This recipe is tasty and easy. Paired with homemade fries or chips (she has good recipes for these as well) it is awesome.

    3/4 pound cooked fresh lobster meat, diced
    1/2 cup good mayonnaise
    1/2 cup finely diced celery (1 1/2 stalks)
    1 tablespoon capers, drained
    1 1/2 tablespoons finely minced fresh dill
    Pinch of kosher salt
    Pinch of freshly ground black pepper
    8 hot dog rolls, grilled or toasted

    Combine the lobster, mayonnaise, celery, capers, dill, salt, and pepper. Fill each roll and serve.
