With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I thought I would re-post my favorite recipe for homemade pumpkin spice. It’s ridiculous easy to make and all the ingredients can be found in the bulk spice bins of your local grocery store. Plus, hello, it costs about $0.50 to make. Which is way cheaper than anything bottle you’ll find on the spice rack.
Ingredients
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Directions
Mix all the spices together in a small bowl and store in an airtight container. It’s that easy!!

1/2 teaspoon or 1/4 teaspoon of cloves? Recipe differs from the photo 🙂

Thanks Jeff! I just fixed it. It takes a village to write a blog. 🙂 🙂 1/4 teaspoon cloves!

How much would the taste be altered if there were no ground ginger in it? I don’t keep pumpkin spice or ground ginger and was just wondering. Now that I need it, of course I will get but was just wondering.

Glad you like it–and I agree, purchased spice blends get kind of silly in price.

FYI : “All spice” is the name of a particular spice, called… “All spice”. It is not a blend.
Tek says
You are correct that allspice is ground from allspice berries, however, the blend Mavis listed is a good approximation for allspice flavor and far less expensive than buying the little jars off the shelf.

I made my own Apple Pie Spice as I was NOT going to pay the ridiculous price they want for the spice blend at the grocery store. Thanks for posting this blend!

I put allspice in my pumpkin pie spice as well, about 1/2 teaspoon to this recipe is what I’d add
