Have you ever been to Atlanta, Georgia?
Yesterday I visited CNN headquarters and talked to Susan Hendricks on Headline News {HLNtv} about my efforts to grow 2,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables in my backyard garden. It was totally cool! I even met Clark Howard and I of course said something really intelligent like … “Saving money is RAD.”
Oh my word. I seriously need to work on introducing myself to people. I mean c’mon, telling the Barefoot Contessa “I think you’re awesome was one thing,” and now “I think saving money is RAD?”
Holy Cow Mavis, get it together!
Anyway, I found a link for the promo video, and as soon as I find the actual interview, I’ll post it.
Peace Out Girl Scouts, I’m off to have fun.

P.S. Been to Atlanta? What should I do today when I get some free time?

I have not been to Atlanta but you could go to the World of Coca-Cola. Take a tour of the Braves stadium. Go to the Botanical Garden. Visit Centennial Olympic Park or the aquarium.

OMG! You’re so stinkin’ cute I want to reach through my computer and give you a hue high-five! Thank you for hugging your kale. It’s a) something I would do, and b) totally made my day!

Definitely hit the aquarium. It’s pricey but the large water tank is amazing, nothing quite like it.

In the true fashion of frugality, you could take a FREE tour of the capitol building (complete with shiny gold dome)!

Atlanta is fantastic; I travel there frequently for work. The World of Coca-Cola and the Aquarium are right next to each other. Absolutely worth the money (and usually you can find huge discount promos!). Also, if you get a chance to get around town a bit more, the Highlands area has wonderful little cafes, art galleries and shops that are wonderful to peek in. Enjoy your time there!

I loved the video. You are quite the funny gal.

Let me know where you are in Atlanta today. Maybe we can meet for coffee. I am in the suburbs!! In Duluth working and later (at home) in Lawrenceville. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog and would enjoy talking to you.

I grew up north of Atlanta–great place. If you have a car you should zip over to Stone Mountain, about half an hour east of the city. It’s a massive granite monadnock with the largest bas-relief in the world. The bas-relief depicts the Confederate surrender and is pretty incredible. If the laser show is still going, you could stick around for that (later in the evening).
There’s also a neat Civil War battlefield, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, half an hour north of Atlanta, which is worth a visit both for the beautiful scenery especially in fall and for the history. I’d check out the museum and go to the top of the mountain for a quick visit. It’s probably too late in the day, but not far from there in the city of Kennesaw is the museum and current home of the Little General, the locomotive used in the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862 in the Civil War.
There’s also Underground Atlanta and Olympic Park, the latter of which is right next to the CNN building.
Hope you enjoy exploring the area!

Cute promo video. Will you be on TV, like with an interview??
Don’t think I have ever been to Atlanta. We avoid going places that are too hot.
Are you pickling up some of that red cabbage and canning it??
Mavis says
There was an interview, but I don’t see it on line yet. I’ll post it as soon I can find it. 🙂

The aquarium is wonderful, but a place I think you would love even more is the Dekalb County Farmer’s Market. We went to Atlanta one time to meet friends from France and took them there using public transportation. You have to make a couple transfers, but they were used to it and it was fun for us. We had an all day pass.
