While I was in Seattle yesterday I stopped by a few of my favorite stores. One of them was Ravenna Gardens. I don’t think I’ve actually ever purchased anything from Ravenna Gardens, but I sure like to look around.
I didn’t know I was looking for a garden shed, but yesterday I found the perfect one.
It this shed cute or what? With the exception of the copper roof, I have a feeling the entire shed was made with salvaged materials. Oh how I would LOVE to have this shed sitting in our backyard.
Now I don’t know about you, but I’ve been through my fair share of garden projects with my husband over the years, and the last thing I would do is ask him to build this for me.
For starters, he would say it looks like crap. Then, it looks like it will fall over, then, why would you want a new shed that looks old? What’s wrong with you? If you want a shed why don’t you just go to Costco like all the other housewives in the neighborhood.
See what I mean… It’s not worth it to ask him to build one for me because I already know how the whole conversation will play out. This happens to people when they’ve been married for almost 20 years.
So instead of asking the HH, I did what I always do when I find something super cool, I texted Chino the Handy Man and sent him a bunch of pictures.
He said he could build it and for me, and I should start looking for old barn wood and two windows. Yee-Haw!
I think as long as Girly Girl doesn’t find out how much the original price on the shed was, I can get Chino to build it for about 1/10th of the price. I’ll keep you posted!

I live in Preston, WA (near Issaquah) and our neighbors have a reclaimed lumber business – they salvage wood from Barns in Eastern WA and drive it back here- their site is http://www.montanaoriginals.com – great folks! Love your site- its been fun following you towards your goal this year!

ADORABLE! How fun would it be if the shed was a wee bit bigger. Enough for a small counter and stool. Rainy day fun.

Very cute. The copper roof is the best part!

Mavis, (in regards to girly girl) when someone does me a favor (there is a sweet young lady at my work (hospital) that comes a couple times a year to help my 15 year old with coloring her hair) I not only reimburse her for material and gas I also find out what she likes and get it free with coupons…..since you are so amazing with sales and have access to tons of coupons and doublers maybe you can give her (via hubby) some free goodies she likes for ‘letting you borrow’ her hubby?

Oh I love that place too! So beautiful to look at!

wow for that price I would think it would be stocked with all the tools your little heart fancies, the best of the best mulch, and a cute sexy gardner to do all the work. lol.
My mouth dropped open when I saw the price of that small garden shed. Your Handy Man can surly build it a lot cheaper.

I see a barter opportunity. Especially since The Handyman is much better at it than his wife.

Weathered, copper roof and awesome door! It would be perfect if it was larger. I could never fit all my stuff in it..

That’s tres cute. That copper roof is probably a big chunk of the cost. It’s quite charming with the split door and wreath. When I first saw it I thought it would make a great chicken coop.

That is an adorable shed. You have wonderful taste!!

Love the shed. You could go to a metal fabricator and have a metal roof made. Maybe not copper due to the cost although given you only spend roughly $150 a month for food and gardening I think you deserve the shed!
Maybe you could put it out front on the road with a sign on it. veggies for sale. Have your kids inside as if they’ve been there all day selling veggies when HH comes home and freak him out. He’ll think you’ve lost your marbles. JK

I do woodworking as a hobby, shadow boxes, toy boxes, knick-knack shelves, things like that. I use scrap wood from all over.
An excellent source of my scraps is actually craigslist, especially cedar. Type Cedar Fence in the search bar and see what comes up. Most of the time, people are just glad to get of them. It’s cedar, cut off the end that’s been against the ground, sand it down, and you’ve got countless like-new boards! Again, it’s cedar, so it’s got that pleasant smell. I also collect the sawdust from sanding, dry it out, and put it into little baggies to save if I need to put some in something for the “cedar smell”.
