Do you have your front porch decorated yet? We don’t have much in the way of front porch decorations, just Mr. Snow and a handmade wreath.
When my parents moved a few years ago I inherited Mr. Snow and his green clay pot. My mother used to stick him beside her front door and place poinsettias around him.
But poinsettias cost money, and while I understand there are loads of people who love buying them every year, I’d rather spend my money on flower bulbs and garden seeds.
Maybe I’m just cheap. Who knows, but if I can get my decorations for free by just walking out my front door and cutting a few springs off various trees, well then I’m going to do it.
Just remember, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to decorate. Be creative, and do what makes you happy. It’s not a competition.

We got our Christmas tree on Sunday and I noticed my husband had to trim several branches off the bottom of the tree. So yesterday I got on my gardening gloves and went outside to make a christmas wreath with them. Besides the fir trimmings, I got 3 other types of greens from my neighbors tress that hang over on our side of the fence! Plus I added some sprigs of a bush I have that of small red berries and a couple pinecones. After I hung up the wreath next to the front door, the rest of my porch seemed so bare and I thought about YOU and the post about decorating front doors. I don’t have money to spend on decorations, but I had lots of greens left, so I went in the garage and found six little clay pots of different sizes and some LARGE pinescones. I put greenery in 4 of the pots and a big pinecone in the other 2 pots. So now I have a little arrangement of 3 pots each on each of the pilars on the front porch. Of course I had to make my family come out and look at what I had created and they loved it! Free is fun!! 🙂
