Whoa, am I glad it’s Friday! Tonight the Girl and I will be watching The Garden. It’s a film from 2008 {how have I not heard of this before now?} that chronicles the power struggle between low-income families and land developers over a community garden in South Central Los Angeles. When I watched the preview, I was reminded a little of the Front Yard Garden post from a couple of weeks ago. It should be an intense watch.
I’m not sure if Netflix has The Garden available {someone please let us know in the comments below} but The Garden is available on Amazon Instant Video.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it. Did you love it? Hate it? Can’t wait to watch it over and over?

What a disgrace!!!!I can’t believe how fast we are losing freedom. Not only did the garden provide food needed by low income people, but instilled a sense of pride in them and hopefully they were involving and teaching their children an important way of being more self reliant.Fresh air, sunshine and exercise in the middle of a concrete jungle with home grown food.Shame on those whose greed has destroyed this.

There are actually two documentaries about this event on Netflix… I’ll have to do some research. Watching the end was heart wrenching. 🙁 I was really surprised how upset I got! I loooove me some plants. 😉
Good pick, lady!
