I stopped  by Mrs. Hillbilly’s house this afternoon with some of my excess eggs. I’ve been craving homemade cookies for the last few days but I was down to my last stick of butter and needed more.
I ended up trading 26 fresh eggs for 1 pound of butter. Mrs. HB needed eggs, I needed butter. Having neighbors to barter with is really cool. It sure beats having to drive or walk to the store when you need just one item.
Oh, and Lucy the puggle dog also got a mini play date with her dog as well. What a bonus!

Your egg basket makes me nervous. How many fell out on the way over to the HBs?
Mavis says
One. 🙂 I was in the greenhouse and remembered I needed to collect eggs so I grabbed a hanging wire basket. I LOVE YOU! Details, details, details.

You might want to check w/your vet to see when he recommends letting Lucy interact w/other dogs. Some want the pups to hold off until all the shots are complete.

Am I the only one wondering why she is called Mrs. Hillbilly?
Carol says
Nope, I’ve wondered about those nicknames for about a year, now! 🙂
Chrissy says
I thought it was because she’s from the “South” so I did a search and found this:

Mrs. HB is from Mississippi, and she happens to enjoy being called Mrs. Hillbilly. Mr. HB is from Alabama. She finds it endearing, and not mean spirited.

She explained some of the nicknames early on in her blog. I can’t remember if it was this website or her previous one, but I love that she has cute nicknames for everyone – even her daughter’s friends… 🙂

I also think your neighbor got the best deal here. I would gladly trade you butter for all those eggs! They are close to $4 for a dozen here as well 🙂
Melissa says
ummm, yeah, that butter MIGHT have been worth 1 dozen eggs, not over two dozen – you kidding!? Let’s barter sometime – I’m not too far, just in Tacoma 🙂
Carmen says
That’s a lot of eggs for one pack of butter, but if you both got what you wanted, then everyone’s happy. When bartering, I think ‘you win some, you lose some’ applies, plus at least the eggs have more chance of being eaten when shared.

Very funny that Lucy is a blur and her “playmate” is just laying there.
Mavis says
Lucy is z tad bit hyper. 🙂

I thought the same thing when I looked at the photo!

Lucy is a cutie!

Wow, I wish I was your neighbor, Mavis. You could call me anything you want for a trade like that! Seriously, though, it’s so nice to have good neighbors, and I’m sure you’re one of the best.
