Winco $ 40.64 {2 bags of chips not included in the picture}
I am constantly surprised at the deals I find at Winco. Especially on their produce. The prices are always changing but they are consistently much LOWER than anywhere else {they even beat other stores sales prices}. Check out some of the prices I paid:
Green peppers $0.38 each, red peppers $0.58 each, cucumbers $0.48 each, cilantro $0.58 a bunch, avocados $.88 each, butternut squash $0.79 lb, kiwi $0.38 each, apples/pears $0.99 lb. Seriously, those are AWESOME deals don’t you think?
Also, if you are looking for anchovy paste for so you can make the chicken caesar pasta salad recipe I posted last week, Winco has it for $1.98 a tube. And the reason why you don’t see 2 bags of chips in the above photo? The HH scans the blog daily to see what I’m up to {he rarely reads it} and I hid the chips because I want to save them for when The Girl and I head off on our spring break trip in a few weeks. I thought I’d stock up on Monkey Boy and the HH’s favorite snacks as I find them on sale over the next few weeks but if I put them in the pantry now, they’ll just gobble them up. Ha! Pretty clever eh?

Manager markdowns and friday freebies rule. I made Mrs. HB’s pot roast recipe on friday and holy cow man… it was good. My roast was about half the size of hers so I halved the liquid {I froze the extra} and the roast turned out perfect. The HH even asked if it was a new recipe. 😉

Asparagus for $1.69 a pound? Yes please!
Albertson $1.56
Albertsons has eggs on sale for $0.78 with their in ad coupon through tuesday night at closing if you need some. There is a limit of 2 dozen per person. 
I think I could live off scrambled eggs and guacamole toast for eternity.
Fred Meyer $4.95
Normally Fred Meyer includes orange juice when they offer their 1/2 gallons for $0.99 but not this time. 🙁 I was pretty bummed.
Domino’s Pizza $12.99 {with tax}
They were running a deal over the weekend for 2 topping large pizzas for $5.99 each.
One of the HH’s lunches from last week. Tuna and lettuce on a pita, dried apricots, chocolate covered almonds and a banana.
Packed in a recycled lettuce container. 😉 Several years ago someone stole the HH’s really nice Stanley lunch box out of the break room and I was so mad that I never replaced it. These days my parents save all their take out containers for me and I just use whatever is laying around the house to pack his lunch in. I think it’s pretty genius. The HH thinks it’s weird. And yet, he doesn’t complain anymore because hey… packing your own lunch would be sooooo hard after the little woman has been doing it for you for 23+ years.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Or rather if you don’t want to buy a new lunch box, get creative. See, this is why I know I’ve got a few screws loose. I actually find joy in this. In packing his lunch out of things that would have just ended up in the trash. I’m a sicko. And I’ve accepted it.
Ahhh and about that freezer I sold last week. Everyone keeps saying I am going to regret it. But I truly don’t think I am. The meat we order from Zaycon? I plan on splitting it with Mrs. HB in the future because we are eating smaller portions these days and more fresh stuff. I really think it’s going to be okay.
Life. It evolves. And you’ve just got to go with the flow baby. 😉

Fred Meyer has something they give away free every week. You download it to your card and usually have a couple of weeks to pick it up. I hope this helps! I know, if life interrupts and I don’t have time to read it, whole heaps happen and I’m like wait, what??? Help me, I’m losts!!!

Like Robin said they are a digital coupon that comes out every friday online {I always post the freebie in my friday deals post}. You have to download the coupon to your card on friday and then you have 3 weeks to claim for freebie. During the holidays they do a 25 days of deals as well {that one is a mix of high value coupons and freebies}.

But, wait! Please let it be known that it’s not just Fred Meyer stores! It’s actually the parent company known as Kroger ( in my area). You can go to their website to see if you have one of their stores in your area (Dillons, Frys, Ralphs, etc.)

Sometimes, I think some people think you sold your only freezer. Wasn’t this about the third one? Don’t you still have a couple more, not including the kitchen refrigerator freezer?

Here in the Camas/Vancouver area, our FM does their markdowns (for the most part) around 10 am. Meat and baked goods for sure.
Always see produce and dairy, too when I go at this time. Ours has a rack in the back of the store for misc. things and that is where the baked goods are, too.
QFC (another Kroger store) doers the same thing. I was in there yesterday, and they discounted a bunch of Hormel 81 spiral hams for .99 lb.! I bought a 9 lb. ham for $9.90 – saving $22. I would never pay $32 for a ham!!! 🙂

I tend to shop there between 7-8am and there are usually a bunch of markdowns in the refrigerated produce and dairy cases. Our store also has a reduced baked goods rack {by the milk} and 2 bins of random items {that’s where I found the rice and Mrs.HB found dented corn cans for $0.29}.

Having someone steal from me would really anger me. I don’t mind what I take my lunch in! However, I do have a lunch box that never leaves my possession. Good job on the shopping.

Got rid of our freezer 5 years ago and don’t regret it at all. It’s amazing what use to get lost in there and then wasted. My side by side freezer/fridge holds plenty and I garden as well. Right now I have 40lbs of burger, 20 lbs of chicken, 10 lbs of roasts and plenty of ice cream and veggies in there and there is still room. Plus I know what I have and need to use. Little less electricity being used is a plus, too.

You are so lucky to live in a community with all these great grocery stores. Where I live in Mn we don’t have all those choices and grocerietschenis are expensive. We are getting an Aldi in our city in August. Really excited about that.

I have to admit that I’m jealous of whatever winco you go to. I pop into a couple of those that are around me, here and there… hoping for a change. But every time I go in they look like they are on the brink of getting shut down by the health department. Their produce NEVER looks fresh. Shelves are dirty. So much filth.

The difference in food prices from the west coast and east coast is mind blowing. I went grocery shopping today for some fresh smoothie fruits and veggies and here’s what I found: cukes $1.29 each, broccoli heads $1.99 lb., Granny Smith apples (the cheapest) $1.69 lb,, avacados 2/$3.00, lemons 2/$1.00. green grapes on sale for $1.99 lb.
