While I was researching places to stay in the Cotswolds, I knew I wanted to stay in a village setting and in a home with character. Which probably describes quite a few holiday lets that are available at any given time.
A property with character though, is always the highest bit on my list, and with the property at 9 Arlington Row in the tiny town of Bibury, we found just that.
I read somewhere that Arlington Row {the street we were staying on} was one of the most photographed streets in the Cotswolds.
And now I believe it. 🙂
Much like when The Girl and I stayed at The Doc Martin House in Port Isaac, there was a steady stream of sightseers up and down the lane from dawn to dusk.
And how could you blame them? The cottages on Arlington Row date back to the late 1300’s {!!!} and are something out of a storybook.
Dreamy I tell you. Just dreamy. The only thing that could have made this location even better was to have been here during a snowstorm or something.
Inside, the house had everything we needed. It was cozy and quirky and just the sort of place to stay a while and to be able to soak up the surrounding area for a few days.
The cottage across from ours.
Two doors down.
A walk down the lane headed towards town.
Rack Isle, where wool was put to dry. Did I mention the cottages on Arlington Row started life as a wool store? I think that’s what sealed the deal when I was researching accommodations. 🙂 You know, being a rug hooker and all.
The car park. It’s a bit more narrow than it appears.
Over the bridge and walking towards town.
Tourists.
There were so many ducks!! And swans too. The whole center of the village was magical.
The famous Swan Hotel.
After we saw the major sights {the street we were staying on, The Swan Hotel, the village green} and walked past the trout farm, we simply walked down various lanes looking at all the different homes.
Now that is a hedge!!!
Mulch and stones being delivered in heavy duty reusable bags… Genius!
Ohh sweet little town of Bibury, we are going to miss you! It’s hard to believe our trip to England {3 days in London, 4 in the Cotswolds} is coming to an end. We are headed back to Heathrow this afternoon.
Jen is flying back to Seattle and I’m headed back to Maine. I do LOVE England, but it will be good to get back home.
The HH told me the fence guys are there installing the fence right now {wahooo!} so I’m pretty excited to see that.
Have a wonderful day everyone, I will share more pictures in the coming weeks.

I wonder how many of those delightful homes are lived in by locals vs rentals or airbnb’s. It would be so weird to have people photographing your home everyday! But these pics are SO magical!

When I’m over visiting my sister and bil, we always take a day to go to Bibury. There’s always something new to discover.

A dream come true, for sure! I’m afraid I’d never want to go home if I ever visited a wondrous place like that! I’d want to stay just to see the Jolly Green Giant clip the huge hedge! Thanks for sharing the wonders of another place!
