Dollar Store $3.00
Last night I had to go to the laundromat to wash our clothes. It totally sucked. I feel bad for people whose only option it is to wash their tighty whities in public while a man in red velour track suit smokes his Marlboros out front in the dark and stares at them through the laundromat window. It’s a little unnerving to say the least. Especially if you are a suburban housewife.
In between loads I popped over to the Dollar Store and wandered the aisles for a good twenty minutes trying to kill some time and low and behold I found a few deals. Call it a silver lining I guess.
Costco $65.39
Costco saved me again this past week with their ready made meals and fresh produce. A big THANK YOU to the person who recommend Costco’s Chicken Salad. WE LOVED IT!!!
Since we are in the middle of a remodel and without a kitchen for a few more weeks, our options are pretty limited. Even though I’ve been working like crazy {blogging, helping with the remodel, painting bedrooms, unpacking, pulling weeds} I am having a blast. It seriously feels like I’m holding down two jobs… but I know it is going to be worth it in the end so I’m hanging in there. 😉
Smith Brothers Farm – Sponsored
Last week we hardly touched our milk so this week I decided to forgo my regular milk order and change my Smith Brothers Dairy order up a bit.
Leah’s Kitchen Chicken Pot Pie {I can pop it in the microwave!} a half gallon of Alpenrose Chocolate Milk for Monkey Boy and 16 oz. of sour cream {I plan on buying a giant sack of potatoes at Costco this week}. Doesn’t that pot pie look goooood? I’m excited to try it tonight for dinner.
How did you do this week?
Is there any other ready made stuff at Costco you think we should try?
~Mavis

Costco’s chicken caesar salad is good and in the freezer section there is Milton’s creamy chicken and wild rice that you cook in the microwave.

Thanks Cecily!!! I’ll check it out.

Thank you for the update, Mavis!!! I know what you mean about the laundromat peep show. I give thanks EVERY time I do laundry here at home since many years ago I had to rely on those coin machines for about two years….
Keep on doing what you are doing and I’ll be here to read your blog!

Here’s an idea…we like to buy a bag of the “Fully Cooked Sliced Beef” (usually with the deli stuff, near pulled pork, etc.) and use it for fajitas. I sauté onions and peppers. (Let’s see, no stove…you could roast them in your toaster oven?) I slice the meat into thin strips and then squirt some lime juice and cumin on them, heat them up a little. Throw it all into some tortillas. Very quick dinner!

The Costco fresh calzones are yummy, and only $3.50 a piece (pack of two), and we love their sushi. I also get their packs of pre-cooked bacon, which microwave up in a hurry.

An electric skillet, if you don’t already have one, can open up a lot more options when living without kitchen appliances. They are relatively inexpensive and allow you to make things like grilled sandwiches or quesodillas, taco meats, and pretty much anything that you would cook in a regular skillet. I use my electric skillet all the time, even with a fully functioning kitchen.
Mavis Butterfield says
I think I may have to break down and buy one this week.

Electric skillets also open up the whole world of bagged meals from the frozen section. French toast, bacon, fried tomatoes, and fried eggs are also options with an electric skillet. My grandma makes chicken fried steak, smothered steaks, and fish in hers too.
