A friend of mine suggested that I check out An Idiot Abroad this Friday–she told me it combined my love of travel with my adoration of dry British wit. It’s produced by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant–both of whom are hilarious. They send their friend, Karl Pilkington {who has never been out of England} to experience the 7 wonders of the world, only they also add in a couple of “out of his comfort zone” tasks for him to complete. Should be entertaining.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I just saw this preview and am so excited to watch it! http://video.pbs.org/video/2365385033/ It is a year of the Queen’s garden. Plus they have a series about British baking: The Great British Baking Show. http://video.pbs.org/program/great-british-baking-show/. I cannot watch it now, but plan to in the near future. And I know my girl will want to watch that as well.

Seen it. I wouldn’t say its dry British wit. Rather slapstick and crude in my opinion. Not too brilliant.

My husband and I loved this series. Karl is made out to be such the dolt but at times he is smarter than he looks. Enjoy!

I think you will love it. I watched Season one and two and died laughing.

I watched them all because they were THAT funny! Don’t know if that was truly Karl being himself or a character but either way extremely entertaining! I love the travel and humor combo.

I love that show! The were supposed to have an idiot abroad 2 but I don’t know if they ever aired. Hands down my favorite episode was when Karl “bungee jumped.” Thinking about makes me laugh.
