I had the best trip ever. I was gone for 10 days this time and each and every one of my vacation days whizzed by. I was able to spend an afternoon at my friend MamaJJ’s house making scones and talking about random things…
She gave me a hair cut on her back porch. Because who the heck goes to a beauty salon and pays big bucks for someone to cut a straight line? Only crazy people, that’s who. 
We stopped by her mom’s house and admired her new couch. 🙂 🙂 🙂
And the squash collection under her bed.
I slept in everyday, caught up on my reading and did a little rug hooking.
When we bought our house on the east coast last summer I thought the textured ceilings were a little strange. Now they are my favorite feature in the house.
The Girl and I were able to tour a basket factory where they’ve been making baskets by hand since before the Civil War. Being able to learn how something was made step by step {I’ll post photos soon} was crazy awesome. It makes you really want to know who your dollars are going to. 
I ate homemade brownies. Lot’s of them. 
And tortured myself by looking at properties for sale in Maine. Do you see the attached greenhouse to the right of the home? It was perfect!!
The Girl and I also visited food banks and made donations… 
And did a bit of thrift store shopping as well.
And then, after a 5 hour flight home, I snuggled all afternoon with my favorite puggle. 
When I opened the mail the next day I found out One Hundred Dollars a Month reader Amy sent me a lovely packet she designed for the Hudson Valley Seed Library. How cool is that?
While I was away the HH and Monkey Boy did an amazing job of gutting the bathrooms
And now the hard work begins.
Vacation days… I think we all could use a few more.

Yes, we bought a house on the east coast and I would LOVE to live there full time. Just trying to convince my husband. 🙂 And high five for us letting them do all the work for us. 🙂 The woodwork in your bedroom is AMAZING!!! I need to show my husband those pictures.

What is the name of the basket factory and location, please? I give out free haircuts to anyone who sets foot here and will sit still long enough. Free haircuts are great!
My sister had a house that had one room on the southeast side that only had a brick walk through it. The floor was dirt. She loved it. The room was not an addition and it was not evident from the outside that it was a greenhouse.

Free haircuts to all who wander in? That is funny. Reminds me of a day last summer. My guy was giving my two children haircuts out on the patio. Clean up is much easier outside, just use the leaf blower to clear away the clippings. My friend who had come to visit said, “I’m next”. Now my guy has been cutting my hair for a number of years now. Does it every other month, I get a great haircut at zero cost. I was not sure that she knew he cuts my hair, so when my guy went in the house to get the stool, the cape and clips he uses on my hair, I asked her if she was serious. She said sure, if he is willing to cut it, I’ll let him. I never thought about having him cut another woman’s hair. I felt a little awkward watching him cut it, but she was quite happy with the haircut and we visited for awhile. Afterwards I asked him why he did it. He told me that she is my friend, she asked him to cut her hair so he thought I wanted him to as I didn’t say anything. He didn’t want to be rude and tell her no. If we are doing haircuts that afternoon, I am OK with it, but I wouldn’t want someone just popping in and expect my guy to give her a haircut.
