Although I was too sick to do any double coupon shopping this past week, I still managed to collect plenty of groceries. I bartered, harvested garden goodies, picked up reclaimed food, and even redeemed Swagbucks and Vitacost credits to fill the cupboards. It was a weird week to say the least.
Here’s the food that made it’s way into our home last week:
Barter $ FREE
I was able to barter some French Breakfast radishes for 8 avocados. In case you missed it, you can read the story HERE.
Costco $8.48
Of course the only downside of bartering for avocados was that I needed to buy chips!
Swagbucks $FREE
I checked my Swagbucks account a few weeks ago and noticed I had enough credit to redeem a $25 gift card to Amazon.com. So when the credit finally came through, I used part of it to order some free cereal for Monkey Boy and The Girl.
Barter $FREE
The next day I ended up trading Girly Girl 2 boxes of cheerios for about 1 pound of bacon.
Unidentified Store $FREE
I was able to salvage a ton of yummy produce this week from these four boxes of chicken scraps. Be on the lookout for a few new recipes this week.
Fred Meyer $6.59
Tillamook butter was on sale 3 for $5. I thought it was a pretty decent deal so on the way back from an important appointment early Saturday morning, even though I was sicker than a dog, I made the Handsome Husband pull into Fred Meyer so I could fall out of the car and grab some butter. As soon as we got home, I crawled into bed and didn’t leave for the next 48 hours.
Vitacost $FREE
When we arrive home on Saturday, this was waiting on the front porch.
When you sign up for Vitacost, the nice people over there will email you a code for $10 off your first order. But it gets even better. Vitacost has a referral program. In fact the links in this post are my referral links. Why am I telling you this? Well, you too can create your own Vitacost referral link and then share your link with family and friends via your blog, email account, Facebook and Twitter pages. When people go through your link, they will get $10 to spend and you will earn $10 to spend. It’s a win-win kind of deal.
Target $3.79
I broke out in hives on Sunday morning {awesome, I know} so the Handsome Husband ran to Target to get me Benadryl. While he was there, he picked me up a pint of lemon sorbet as well.
So there you have it. Did you do any shopping at Albertsons on double coupon Sunday? What did you buy?
Total Spent This Week $18.86
Total Spent This Year $578.43
Total Spent This Year on Garden Seeds/Supplies $436.12

Hey Miss Mavis – hope you’re feeling better. I’m still sick. Called in sick to work today even.
I sent my handsome husband to Albertsons yesterday to do the Alexia potato and the Kikkoman deals – got 8 of the potatoes and 4 of the Kikkomans and when I double the Catalinas they will both be moneymakers. Actually had him do this with 1 of them to get a loaf of French bread for free.
FINALLY got my Vitacost thing to work. I don’t have the millions that you have, but I have some. It’ll be fun to shop there today.
And I’ve gotten a bunch of Amazon (Swagbucks) food lately too – 6 bottles of mayonnaise, 8 packs of sunflower seeds, 3 tubs of cherries for baking, ramen noodles….
Have a good day!

Oh! And the husband went to Fred Meyer to look at bikes for the kids and got a bunch of the 2-pound for $2.99 cheeses and the free Snapwares too. Actually, all things considered, not a bad week for me! 🙂

In the play, I wear a hat very similar to that one. And a corset. Are you wearing a corset?
Mavis says
Are you on crack? Of course I am not wearing a corset. And I am not jealous of you and your corset wearing either. But I bet you look lovely in it. Even if you can barely breath. 🙂

Hope you’re feeling better Mavis.
I have a couple of questions, if you could be so kind to help me with them.
We need to find a 0% interest lines to switch our account to. Do you know of any? Also, I want to get on an account (for regular day to day spending) where I could earn frequent flyer miles.
You are the savviest person I know, so I thought I would try asking.
But only when you’re feeling up to it of course . 🙂
Thanks in advance,
Susan

Here is a link to e-rewards where you can do surveys and turn in your rewards for flyer miles.

I don’t know if you can just sign up. I was invited by Borders (when they existed) because I had their rewards card.
I hardly fly so I do not use their flyer miles but I get free magazines from them.

Thanks Leanna,
‘So sweet of you, I will check it out right away.

For a sick week, you did real good! And there’s still 2 days for doublers if you REALLY wanted anything. 🙂
I have a question about the Vitacost link thingy because it seems like you are able to get SO MUCH from it! Do you get $10 every time someone clicks through on the link, or only if they make an account (only one $10 for each new account) or is it $10 every time some goes through your link and makes a purchase? I am confused on how exactly this works because from the amounts and frequency of stuff you’re getting from them, it looks like they are just throwing money at people! (which would be super awesome)
🙂 Thanks!

You get a $10 credit when someome makes their first purchase. If you don’t have a blog, not into facebook or twitter than email is the best way to tell your friends about vitacost. Simply provide a link letting people know about it beneath your signature at the bottom of your emails. 🙂 That way if they want to check it out they can, and if not they’ll just ignore it. 🙂
