Let’s just say… This whole can shopping at Costco save you money challenge for this year is kicking my bu hut.
Did I tell you both Monkey Boy and The Girl have full time summer jobs? Yes, yes they d0. My son LOVES Mc Donald’s. I mean LOVES it. Like he will eat there everyday if he has the money to do so {obviously that would be HIS money, not mine}. My daughter is the complete opposite. This morning she had a leftover bbq chicken breast and a yogurt for breakfast.
Anyway, I thought if I stocked up on foods they both liked, maybe this would curb my son’s fast food, money wasting addiction.
That, and we were having a Father’s Day bbq at our house and the HH wanted “proper snacks.” You know, store bought dip and chips.
Whateva. Some weeks you loose the grocery shopping game. Miserably.
But hey, let’s talk about the Godiva chocolate cheesecake my mother brought over, shall we?
Because I am EXTREMELY clever, I baked a fresh raspberry pie {I’ll share the recipe tomorrow} to go with the chocolate cheesecake for dessert. This of course meant that everyone would want both a slice of pie AND a slice of cheesecake after dinner.
Which of course meant I could cut SMALLER slices of the cheesecake. 😉
And then hoard the remaining 9 giant slices in my freezer until July 1st. Who’s the smart one now? Huh?
She also brought me a box of tea. 🙂
And some flamingo bling from Nordstrom. She suggested I use the flamingo candles to celebrate the end of my 30 day living off an emergency food supply challenge.
I made a big pot of homemade beans for the bbq.
And and big bowl of roasted corn with bacon and onion.
Word on the street was that the burgers were great.
And weenies too.
It was a great party, even if it did blow my budget.
How did YOU do this week? Did you spend a little more buying fixins’ for Father’s Day too?

If you happen to go to Cracker Barrel this summer they have lots of flamingo things. I was tempted.

I have never been to Cracker Barrel before!!! It’s on my bucket list though. I see the signs all the time on the highway and want to stop.

I think the closest Cracker Barrel to us is in Montana. They are all over the south. It’s my husband’s favorite restaurant. Go figure!!
Mavis Butterfield says
What do you usually order there?
Grace says
Fried catfish with hush puppies, 2 orders of hash brown casserole, fried apples, biscuits & corn muffins, & a large apple cider (hot in cold weather, cold in hot weather). They serve this for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. I also get the Baked Vidalia Onion if it’s in season. My oldest son usually gets Mama’s Pancake Breakfast (breakfast, lunch, & dinner), & my youngest tries various options. I think he got rainbow trout & fried okra the last time we went to Cracker Barrel. My mom frequently gets roast beef. We love Cracker Barrel!

We have a Boise and a Nampa Cracker Barrel. I love to look at all the cute giftie things. They always have the best Americana deco item, historical things and fun clothes to look at while we wait to be seated. Their casserole and baked apples are great. Love their breakfasts. Haven’t been there in about 9 months, time to go check out their 4th of July stuff. DH loves their chicken fried steak.

I use zaycon for my chicken, I go to cash and carry and get a big huge slab of rib eye and cut up our own steaks, I use the zaycon chicken thighs and throw in food processor for my own ground chicken. So basically I use Costco for veggies that I don’t get at cash and carry. The only junk food we have in the house is Costco pretzels and their microwave popcorn and I always buy a different nut each week to munch on…I also buy my nutbutter from Costco, peanut butter or almond butter. and I buy my vitamins and shampoo there. one thing people need to look at is their own Kirkland brand shampoo and conditioner is without sulfates and the best shampoo for your hair, after getting my hair straightned I need a special shampoo and they were very spendy at the beauty supply store and Kirkland brand has everything in those spendy shampoos…I also buy clothes at Costco, namebrand for pennies, they had Hilfiger T shirts for 12.99 this weekend, Macys would never give you that kind of a deal…I never really looked at how and where I spent my money on food when I was working, but now that I gave up my job and just relying in hubbys checks, which we could still not be frugal with food, but I still want to put money away in savings…and Costco sure does save you a lot of money if you are smart, not all things are cheaper, be wise and always stick to your list….never eat the samples because you will impulse buy, those carbs at the start of our trip will trigger wants for more carbs and you will end up buying something you don’t really want and need…im learning a lot from you:)

Your mother is very pretty and you look like sisters (except for the hair color of course!). How did you resist that food?
Helen in Meridian says
What a cute MOMMY you have. You could make white chocolate flamingos in the silicone ice trays and brush them with pink food color for your celebration pig out.
