After last weeks epic Costco shopping trip, I nearly made it an entire week without going shopping. The Girl wanted to make homemade granola {I’ll post the recipe tomorrow} and we were out of honey so we stopped by and picked up 3 little bears.
Since I started my 30 day challenge, I feel like I haven’t done as much cooking as I would normally do. I’ve relied on freezer meals, and the kids making their own dinners way too many times this past month and let me tell you Bob, I’m ready to start cooking and trying new recipes again.
Did you have a Father’s Day BBQ?
How many days were you eating leftovers for? My peeps had leftover chicken, steak and burgers {with all the fixing’s} for three days straight.
I did manage to make them chicken stir fry and fried rice one night though. 🙂
We also harvested radishes and romaine lettuce from the garden. The Girl made chicken Caesar salad for everyone {who wasn’t eating out of a packet}.
And take a look at those chocolate chip cookies she made. Aren’t they beautiful? Couldn’t you just eat the entire plate of home baked goodness?
How is YOUR meal planning going these days? Are you slacking off because of the weather too?

Total Spent This Week $13.99
Total Spent Year to Date $1120.19 {Yes, I am waaaaay over budget for this year}.

The heat makes it difficult to turn on the oven! Fortunately it cooled down long enough yesterday that I was able to bake some bread. I did make cherry ice cream so that’s going to help when the heat rises. By the way, those radishes look awesome! We grew some a couple of years ago and were too small.

Veronica, do you mind sharing your cherry ice cream receipe. I have tons of cherries and a girl can only make so much jam and pie filling. Thanks

Brenda, I just blend frozen bananas and cherries in the food processor. You can re freeze it for about an hour or eat as is. So easy!

I have used jam in place of honey to make granola. I made some the other day with some apricot freezer jam. It was fruity flavored and so good. I’ve also used plum and chokecherry. I’m sure blackberry jam would be good. I know you make a lot of jams!

I’m suprised you don’t buy local honey, I thought you were thinking of raising bees.
