Are you as obsessed with bakery outlets as I am? If you have never been to one before, you are seriously missing out! And you are wasting your dough by paying full price for all sorts of bread, bagels, rolls, and more.
You can save on everything in the store and pay a fraction of what you would at a retail grocery store. As soon as I walk in I immediately head to the manager special section to see what items have been marked down to $1 {or sometimes even less!}. That’s where I score the best deals!
I load up at the bakery outlet and then freeze all my bread loot.
I use this Easy Kitchen Tip Restoring Frozen Breads Freshness. Then my bread that I’ve purchased at rock bottom prices is good as new!
Do you shop at bakery outlets? What are your favorite things to buy there?

I love our bakery outlet. I buy a whole month worthof bread, rolls and sweets for about 20 dollars I hit up the dollar section and even better the .75 cent section. With 4 kids ages 5, 4 and 2 year old twins we have to stretch every penny.

I was just at the Franz outlet store on Friday. I went with my daughter to the one that is actually right at the Franz Bakery in Portland.
Scored lots of goodies! My DH is gluten-free and they had the GF hamburger buns for $2.50 (they are $6 – $7 in any given store) GF bread – 2 loaves for $4.99 (great price!) a container full of GF cookies- Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodles, or Oatmeal/Raisin for $1 !!! We loaded up.
For every $5 you spend, you get 1 product off of a special rack. Got a loaf of specialty bread for myself and 3 boxes of donuts 🙂

It’s been many years since I shopped at a bakery outlet. There was one I used to buy from when I was a newlywed but I brought home moldy bread a few times too many so I stopped shopping there (and we are now halfway across the country from that particular store).
I should check out a local bakery outlet. I’m sure they all don’t sell moldy bread. 😉

I was always amused because the huge sign read–Bread Thrift Store. I could imagine people tiring of their bread and dropping it off to be sold again.
Now, they have a new store closer to me. That works since my freezer gave up the ghost. I did buy $7 worth and get a punch on a card. Now, I buy only one loaf of bread and maybe some buns. When the ten spaces were filled, I received my choice of $7 worth of bread.
$2.89 bread is now $1.29 and the bread is four days from the use-by date. Then, of course, it lasts longer than the date. Of course, there is cheaper bread and all bread products that Flowers bakes. There is a $0.69 table. They carry chips and Cokes in a cooler.
I love the Bread Thrift Store that is now called Bread Outlet Store.

I started shopping my two local bakery outlets after I read about these stores on your site years ago. I was just thinking this morning how we are now on our last bag of English muffins and bagels and need to make a stop at the outlet today on my way home. Our local Franz outlet (Everett, WA) was awesome when my daughter’s school did a service project making PB & J sandwiches for the homeless shelter. I was buying bread for the sandwiches and told the clerk what the kids were doing. She threw in 15 (!) more loaves!

15 loaves for free? Yet another reason to love bakery outlets!

It is me and my Zojirushi bread machine which has paid for itself many times over by now. Bread that I don’t bake myself comes from Aldi and they have great prices.

There’s an small bread outlet store in Federal Way that sells Dave’s killer bread, if it’s still there. I have also started seeing it at Grocery Outlet

I shop at my Freihofers Bread outlet. Thomas’ muffins, Calise Rolls, Arnold and Freihofer bread…all at $0.89/loaf! they have packaged donuts and pastries at 2/5 or 3/5 – depending on the sell by date.
Since i like country style bread (when i’m not making my own) it would cost me close to $4 a loaf. I can buy 4 at that price at the outlet.
I love the outlet.

Oh, dear. I’m all for saving money, and we do still often buy everyday bread at a supermarket, BUT… we’re German and honestly… the second cheapest prizes for bread are the supermarket bakeries or the self-serve bakeries and those breads are edible… BUT HAVE ANY OF YOU EVER EATEN a true, German, bakery-baked sour-dough whole grain BREAD bread??? (sorry for yelling… but you must try it) – It is so delicious that I’ll gladly save money elsewhere just to be able to buy REAL bread. Just sayin’
