I was looking for another series that was free with Amazon Prime and I stumbled on this one. It’s a British series, called Manor House and you know how I’m a sucker for all things British. It basically shows the inner workings of large British mansions in the early 1900’s, and plays on the unbalanced wealth that lives and works there. A handful of volunteers for signed up to work at the Manor House 24/7. I’m going to try to wrangle the HH into watching it with me. I’ll keep you posted on if we love it!
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I’m totally into all these series! BBC also has ones called Victorian Farm and Edwardian Farm that get into historic farming methods of the era by having archaeologists and anthropologists try them out. They’re so fun to see how farming and gardening has changed (or stayed the same) over time. I’ve found most of them on youtube but they may be available in other places too.

If you enjoyed those, look for Tales from the Green Valley- the same team of archeologists/historians (plus 2 others) made it before the Victorian farm and they’re on a small farm in the Welsh Borders during Stuart times.
I could watch all of them over and over again 🙂

Hi Laine and Mavis,
I too have seen the Manor House series quite a while ago. It is so interesting, AND addicting!!! As Laine mentioned, there are others in the series too. I’m very interested in the Farm episodes you mentioned. I saw another series called Pioneer House that was so interesting! I stayed up super late watching all the episodes at once! It’s really eye opening to see how different everyday life was and how people from the present time would handle it.

Thanks so much for the recommendation, Mavis–I just placed a hold on it at my library! Library DVD rentals have pretty much changed the entertainment game at our house.
