Have you ever seen North and South? Well, if not, seriously, it is the BEST mini series on the planet {it’s a BBC original, need I say more?}. If you watch if for nothing else, watch it for Mr. Thornton. What a hottie! It was free on Netflix when I watched it. Just prepare yourself for your life shutting down until you’ve finished watching it. You’ve been warned.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

One of my very favorites. It wasn’t while I was watching it the first time, but when it was all wrapped up… SO GOOD!!!!

I loved it! Watched it while I was machine quilting a quilt! From the tile, I had assumed that it was about the Civil War, so I was surprised but as with most British dramas/miniseries, It was extraordinary!!!

It is excellent! and the actor who plays Mr. Thornton in this series later on in his career is cast in the Lord of the Rings series as Thorin Oakenshield!

Your post got me interested so I checked Netflix. Episode 3 came up. It shows it is appx 52 minutes. How many episodes are there…?
Mavis says
There are 4 episodes total and I recommend every one of them!

Apparently the BBC message board crashed after the first episode aired because of Richard Armitage as Mr Thornton!
If you like this I think you’d enjoy Poldark, though I’ve no idea where it would be shown or if it’s free in the US. We’re expecting the second series this Autumn in the UK. It stars the rather lovely Aidan Turner (who was Kili in The Hobbit 🙂 )

Poldark Season 1 is currently free with Amazon Prime. Can’t wait for season 2, I loved season 1!

Great to see you recommend North and South.
Was the first full-length novel I read in English (not my first language), all on my own in 10th grade (16 years then). Even better if you know there are autobiographic references from Elizabeth Gaskell in it. Absolutley recommend reading it!
And watching it on replay again and again 🙂

Richard Armitage…sigh. I highly recommend reading the book as well. I’ve read it three times already. I own the DVD too after renting it from the library countless times.

I’ve watched it two or three times at least. It is addictive. Absolutely love it.
