I was totally on target to stay on budget for the month until the HH picked something up at the store. He rarely makes or shops for food so I try not to freak out when he grossly overpays for something he thinks might taste good. Oh well. I’m sure once I am able to start harvesting some veggies from the garden {and shop less} everything will work itself out.
At Least that’s what I’m telling myself.
Fred Meyer $10.94
Last week Fred Meyer had their 18 count eggs on sale for $1.99, DiGiorno pizza $3.99, sour cream and cream cheese for $.99 each. I was also able to pick up 2 friday freebies; a Lindt truffle and a chicken pot pie for the boys.
Albertsons $2.59
I try and wait to buy milk at Fred Meyer when they have it on sale for $0.99 a half gallon every two weeks but I was 3 days away and needed it for my tea {milk in tea is a necessity if you ask me}.
Costco – $16.69
Mr. Helpful stopped by Costco to pick up something for work and decided it would be a good idea to pick up dinner as well. Which was a nice thought… but when I am make the same thing at home for 90% less it makes me kind of crazy. 😉

How was the shepherd’s pie from Costco? I’ve thought about picking one up but haven’t talked myself into it yet. I recently had a baby so those pre made dinners can be helpful, although price and taste is a turn off for me.
When my hubby stops by Costco for a “few things” he ends up buying soooo much more! I love his help with shopping (especially at Costco )
But he definitely doesn’t shop like I do!
Mavis Butterfield says
It was just okay. I wouldn’t want him to ever buy it again though.

It definitely can’t be as good as the one you make Mavis!! Cause that one is the BOMB! I now have big hunting mountain men requesting it for every hunting trip :):):)

I have only spent $37 so far this month. My husband sticks to the list with out fail but often picks up organics I would not have. He only see what is on the list and doesn’t read the label.
Mavis says
$37 so far this month is awesome!

Hm. I want to say that we did okay this week. But I’m not really sure. I didn’t do too much shopping. Our produce box is $40 a week. Plus maybe another stop?
Trying to eat up stuff in the house before spring break.

I had to laugh when I saw the Costco shepard’s pie! Costco was sampling it last week. Couldn’t do it at almost $4.00 a pound. Didn’t think it was worth it, even with the convenience factored in. Sample tasted kind of bland.
Mavis Butterfield says
I’m wondering if it’s because they use hamburger meat instead of leftover pot roast {which is what I always use}?

Milk is critical in tea!
