Last week I stumbled upon the movie trailer for Temple Grandin and I’ve had it on my mind ever since. The movie is about Temple Grandin {played by Claire Danes} shines and is the fact-based story of an autistic woman who became an unlikely hero to America’s cattle industry. The reviews are 5 stars and it is currently free with Amazon Prime. I’m excited to watch it tonight!!
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

Good choice. Interesting and quite good. I grew up near a meat processing plant and have wondered if her ideas were implemented there.

This is the BEST movie! If u know someone with autism, u are an adult & struggle with the whole host of spectrum diagnostics, of how it fits into ur family, this is one to watch!
A little dated but well worth a Friday nite.
I just love the idea of our communities learning more about why some people think just a tad bit differently. Bet u know some folks from ur past that nail it!! Keep an open mind. Lots of life for others to live that don’t exactly match expectations u may have! I believe she also has a website with tons of info/suggestions.
Keep ur mind open, open, open-just never know until u learn!

I had the opportunity to meet with Temple Grandin. She is very down to earth and intelligent! Her hearding techniques work in real life. I just love her.

We love this movie!!! My son has mild autism and we have watched this several times as a family. There is a wonderful BBC documentary on Temple called The Woman Who Thinks Like a Cow.

Thanks for mentioning this, I did not know they made the movie. I was pleased to find it in our library system. I am a big admirer of hers.

Wonderful movie! Inspiring and eye opening to help learn about autism. She is a very interesting person to talk with in person! She gives lots of advice! My son has aspergers and I met her at an autism convention where she was a speaker.

As an autism parent, I love this movie. I grew up on a cattle ranch, and we used some of her inventions (not knowing anything about her). It is so inspiring for me as a parent, and also helped me better understand my child. It also greatly helped the grandparents understand autism and their grandchild!

Another parent of an autistic child here (hubby was diagnosed on the spectrum at the same time as my son)
Love the movie. As others have indicated – it helps you understand what is going through their head…

My oldest daughter is 6, has autism, and is much like Temple Grandin. I can’t watch this movie all the way through in one sitting and not without tears. It’s beautiful and lovely and entirely on point. Her mother’s book, A Thorn in My Pocket, is fascinating.
