I’ve never met a waffle I didn’t like, so I’m totally on board with celebrating them in a big way with their own holiday! It’s National Waffle Day!! You should probably drag out the waffle maker and celebrate with one of these 8 scrumptious waffle recipes. Bring on the syrup and butter. Mmmm mmm good!
Zucchini Oatmeal Waffles: Just in time for zucchini season, these waffles are my absolute total complete hands-down favorite waffles. You should try them and see if you agree. YUM!
Hashbrown Waffles: If you’re looking for a little less gluten in your waffle recipe, these are the waffles for you! Crispy, hearty and the perfect addition to any breakfast plate!
Gingerbread Waffles: I think poor gingerbread gets the shaft pretty much all year except Christmas. Change that and give these very gingerbready recipe a try!
Pumpkin Spice Waffles: Did I have you at pumpkin spice? Thought so.
Rainbow Waffles: I try to make these each year on St. Patrick’s Day, but if you have kiddos, these are a perfect way to celebrate National Waffle Day!
Blueberry Cinnamon Buttermilk Waffles: The addition of buttermilk take these waffles to the next level!
Cinnamon Buttermilk Waffles w/ Pecans: I played off those buttermilk waffles and switched out the blueberries for pecans. Man oh man was that a good choice!
Chocolate Zucchini Waffles: I’m certain the zucchini cancels out the chocolate in terms of nutrition and makes this a really healthy breakfast. Right?

We make four of these recipes on a regular basis. We love your waffle recipes! Today we had some of your banana pancakes from the freezer. My waffle iron started sticking after 15 years so we haven’t been making them as often….when you have to finish the batch on the pancake griddle they just don’t turn out well.
Any tips for reseasoning my waffle iron? It is a heavy duty four square one (not Belgium).

Does soaking the shredded potatoes help them cook better? I ask because when I have bought frozen shredded has browns I have such a problem cooking them. They just do not brown. I even looked it up online and found that it’s “a thing” and I am not the only one with this problem, lol. So I hadn’t tried to make any in a long time but
recently bought a bag of the refrigerated shredded type on sale and thought I would try them in the waffle maker, as I had seen this online. Just plain hash browns, not a waffle recipe like you posted. They took so long to finally brown in the waffle maker it was annoying me, so I decided to fry the rest in a pan and nope, they just don’t want to brown. I am sure I do not have the patience for it, but it just seems like it should not be such a problem, lol. I will have to try the waffle recipe, it looks good and maybe I can finally have some shredded has browns! (And no, I haven’t shredded potatoes and tried it myself that way YET)

Do you have a convection feature on your oven? That’s the way to get them brown. Or you can broil them til brown on an upper rack after they are cooked through. Just watch them closely so they don’t burn. It’s worth a try since the best part of hash browns are the crispy brown parts! 🙂

I will have to try the broiler, thank you!

Soaking must help because I didn’t have a problem with mine when I made them.

I really have a tough time selling my family on anything but regular old waffles! But, I’m going to try a couple of those! I’ve liked every recipe of yours so far!! One thing I did try lately that everyone liked was putting falafel mixture in my waffle maker for falafel waffles! It worked beautifully! I was thrilled with not frying them!! I just cut them up and we stuffed them in our pita bread. I got thumbs up all around–a rarity here!

What’s a good brand of waffle maker? I have tried several and have not had good luck. I have the Cuisinart Griddler and was considering getting the waffle plates.

I have been using my Villaware waffle maker for over 15 years now and LOVE it.

too funny—-I had waffles this morning not even knowing today was the special day!!! Mine were blueberry Eggos but still good. I like the chocolate ones and really want to try the pumpkin spice and gingerbread. One of my families favorites are french toast waffles—yes its an extra step from just regular french toast but they really do taste different/better!!!

I love the way Lucy is fixated on the yummy waffles and nothing else, lol. All your waffle recipes look yummy, can’t wait to try the ones with zucchini in them as it “tis the season” One of my favorite ways to cook waffles is with cottage cheese in the batter. It makes them creamy and moist. In fact, while writing this I may just try the cottage cheese AND zucchini, aha. Thanks for your site Mavis, an important part to my day.

In my house, we make waffles and put a slab of ice cream between two waffles. Great ice cream sandwiches they make!
