Tonight I’ll be watching the movie Me Before You, a story about a girl in a small town who forms an unlikely bond with a recently-paralyzed man that she is taking care of.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I read the book first and thought it was awesome (so much so when I saw a copy at Goodwill for $0.59 I grabbed it to add to my small library of books I will reread). The movie was good but I felt it was lacking something when compared to the book.

I LOVED the book (and all the author’s other books as well! Add them to your list to read!) and I was nervous about watching the movie. I think the movie was fantastic, really well done, and did great justice to the book. I hope you enjoy it too!

Read the book first and then watched the movie. I was very pleased with the movie version.. You truly cannot implement every aspect of the book and I think they did a great job!

Terrible!
The message here is if your life cannot be perfect, just kill yourself
I was so glad to see this film protested.
Theresa says
I agree!

I haven’t seen the movie or read the book but I heard that it supported suicide (or physician assisted suicide). I hope Mavis will come back & let us know what she thinks as well.

Loved the book and the movie. I’d never seen the main actress but was informed by my oldest son she is also on game of thrones. The male star reminded me of a young Christopher Reeve.

Have a bo of Kleenex ready…

I have a brother that is a quadriplegic. Dove into an above ground pool at 22 and is paralyzed C5-C6 much like the young man in this book/movie. That was in 1987, my brother is now 51 years old and is employed and drives a converted van. Life has been hard and he lives in pain, every day, but he didn’t kill himself to “solve” his problems. Our family is blessed to have him in our lives. My daughter bought the book and I read it too. We hated it. Too close to home. I would not let my mom read it, I knew it would hurt her to read. Just wanted viewers of this movie to know that the real heroes are the ones who live through what life deals them, not give up.
