This weekend we’ll be checking out the miniseries Poldark {Free for Amazon Prime Members}.
“It’s 1783 and Ross Poldark returns from the American War of Independence to his beloved Cornwall to find his world in ruins: his father dead, the family mine long since closed, his house wrecked and his sweetheart pledged to marry his cousin. But Ross finds that hope and love can be found when you are least expecting it.”
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I binge watched this as I was captivated from the first episode. Then my husband wanted to watch it and I watched it again with him. It is amazing!

So glad you are watching this! It’s really good and it’s set in Cornwall– so beautiful!! PBS is airing season 2 now. Enjoy!

Just watched it a few weeks ago and am following season 2 now – I guess I’m hooked! The scenery is beautiful, although they seem to repeat the footage of him riding his horse along the Cornwall cliffs MUGHTY often
It’s a good fantasy world to get lost in for a little while – hope you enjoy
I haven’t commented recently but read faithfully and am thankful for your regular posts and perspective, just putting that out there and letting you know how very sorry I am that your family is going through such a hard time of loss right now – thinking of and praying for you

I think you’ll love Poldark. I do.

I absolutely LOVE Poldark with Aidan Turner! It is really well done! All of the characters come to life and you really begin to feel emotionally attached to them and the story line. It is definitely worth watching!!!!

Love it! I started watching it this summer on Amazon (I put it on while I’m in the kitchen all day putting up garden bounty- last summer I binged on Downton Abby during canning season). Except now, I have to wait a whole week between current episodes of season 2- ahhh! (first world problems). Fun Fact- did you know this is the third time this series has been made? And the original ‘Ross Poldark’ from the first series has a special cameo in this remake. (yes, I’ve been slightly obsessed).
Diana says
Poldark is a wonderful series.

You will love Poldark! He’s not too shabby looking also 🙂

You will be hooked! It is so good – my favorite series right now! P.S. I think you can watch season 2 which started a few weeks ago on PBS.com to catch up. You will want to!!!!

My husband enjoys it as much as I do! Poldark is deeply romantic without being overly girly. We found it a BIG help to turn on Closed Captions….Cornish copper miners have interesting accents! I ordered the first book in the series, but haven’t started it yet.
Mavis, sending warm thoughts. Your energy and strength have set a great example and was a blessing to me during a low patch (lengthy illness). I wish there were some way to return your kindness. Continued prayers for your family.

Aidan Turner was my favorite dwarf, Kili. He’s a little bit dreamy.
Renay says
HA! I looked at him and went…hmmmm…he looks familiar! Love the LORT movies and books.
Prayers for you and your family Mavis.

I love this PBS series, and am in the middle of the second season now. Love watching it on our big TV because it is so beautiful. Enjoy!
Jenny Young says
I love this series! We just finished watching the newest season on PBS through Roku. You have to watch each episode during the week it airs on tv, they don’t keep it on their Roku channel any longer than that. I’m already anticipating the next season.
Lace Faerie says
Oh, saw this on a PBS commercial today. Glad to hear it’s as good as it looks and we can binge watch it on Prime.
I hope you and your family are blessed with comfort and peaceful hearts

So very good, and Aidan Turner is HOT! Love the story and all the characters…well done series.
Laura Z says
Mavis, it’s been quiet here today and I realized from scrolling backwards through old posts that you suffered an incredible loss lately. Keeping your family held up in our thoughts and prayers. Hang in there.

Sunday night in the Seattle area is pure heaven! First, the new series “The Durells in Corfu” followed by “Poldark” and then “Indian Summers”. Don’t bother talking to me for three hours!!
