Here’s what’s on the movie menu for tonight. Meryl Streep {one of my favorite actresses ever}, stars in The Iron Lady. She plays Margaret Thatcher, the first female Prime Minster of the United Kingdom. The story of Thatcher’s life is told through a series of flashbacks experienced by the woman long after she left office as the British prime minister with the longest tenure of the 20th century.
You see how she entered politics, met her husband, rose to power, earned the Iron Lady nickname, and was pushed from office by her own party. Because I’m kind of unfamiliar with her life and politics, I think it’ll be educational. It’s also free on Netflix right now!
I’ll let you know what I think!

If you haven’t already, be sure to watch The Queen staring Helen Mirren. It takes place in the time right after Princess Diana’s death. Her portrayal of the queen is stunning!

I was so excited until I searched Netflix to find it is not available for streaming, only with their DVD plan. Bummer!

We watched that last winter on DVD, very good, hope you enjoyed it! She was made of stern stuff that Margaret Thatcher and Meryl Streep did a good job of portraying her. As you say, Mrs Thatcher was our first female Prime Minister, paving the way for all women politicians including our current Prime Minister. Hope you enjoyed it.
