Fred Meyer $13.95
Fred Meyer has Kettle Chips on sale for $2 a bag and there is a $1.00 off 2 Kettle chip Fred Meyer ecoupon aviavle making them just $1.50 a bag if you are interested. Eggs are on sale $0.99 this week and don’t forget to grab last week’s friday freebie {LARABAR} while you’re there as well. Apple Pie is my favorite… what’s yours?
Fred Meyer $9.10
The best deal was the anise seed for $0.12. Because seriously, why would I pay big bucks for a spice I’m probably only going to use twice? I needed it for the fig and hazelnut biscotti I made last week. It always amazes me that peeps don’t know about buying spices in bulk. SERIOUSLY, you can save a ton of money.
Winco $45.59
Winco consistently beats Costco and Fred Meyer with their bulk items and produce prices, so when I’m over in that part of town I pop in and stock up.
How do these prices compare to the grocery store YOU shop at?
English cucumbers $0.78, Avocados $0.88, Fresh Asparagus $1.98 a pound, potatoes $1.98 for 15 pounds, green peppers $0.68 each, broccoli $1.28 a pound, Gala apples $0.98 a pound.
Panera – Free with Birthday gift card
I stopped by Panera to pick up their baker’s dozen of bagels deal on Tuesday. I always seem to get the same ones: Everything, Cinnamon Raisin, Whole Wheat, Asiago Cheese and 1 plain bagel.
Do you ever get Panera bagels? Is there a different kind I should try?
Toasted bagel with cream cheese, lettuce, cucumber and sliced avocado. Bueno.
The HH’s sunday breakfast in bed.
Lunch with with my parents {their treat}.
And breakfast at the Bella Pastry {my treat} $22.50.
It was a good, {although expensive} week. 🙂
How about YOU? Did you buy anything exciting this week?

I love grocery posts. I really do.
I have certain things I aim to buy as certain places. Winco bulk and produce is usually the best price I can find. Sometimes Grocery Outlet beats them. I hit certain stores for certain things.
Also, this is the first time in my life I found a successful method of making a shopping list. I used to make a menu, then make a list. And I tried making a list based on menus that synched up with the sales flyer. Now, I know how many pounds of meat I need per week. I get so much for ground meats, then I get the rest from whatever is on sale. For produce, I know I need 2 pounds of fresh fruit/veg, and a certain amount of frozen fruit/veg. Then I need a certain amount of snacks (nuts, jerky, etc). Then I shop my kitchen to see what I can cross of this standard list. The remaining items are the actual shopping list. IT IS WORKING SO WELL! Seriously, so little waste! I’m thrilled 🙂

Chocolate chip bagel…seriously. Like a desert and a breakfast all in one. Big sugar craving, hit the cinnamon crunch.

None of the grocery stores around where I live offer bulk bin items. The produce items you highlighted are much cheaper than here in my area on the east coast. I’m lucky if I can get 5 pounds of potatoes for that price!

I like the cinnamon crunch topping on the bagel.

Have you tried WinCo’s bulk bagels? If you are there in the morning when bagels are freshly baked–we think they are great!
Mavis Butterfield says
Nope, not yet. I’ll look the next time I’m there. Thanks for the heads up.

Unfortunately, the Good Earth tea rebate is gone off of my Ibotta.

Ms. Mavis,
If you haven’t already, please tell Mrs. HB that forsythia shrubs can quickly become a wild, jungled, mass of tangled branches when they get bigger. Being a teensy OCD about my yard, I moved the wild ones in my front yard into a long hedgerow along the property line and trim them to 3-4 ft every year after flowering. I like their welcome yellow color in early spring, but try to keep them from becoming a garden thug. ~ The Repurposed Gardener

I’ve been to Panera (my son loves their mac and cheese) but I’ve never had their bagels. We always get our bagels at Blazing Bagels in Redmond, WA. They have a huge selection of bagel flavors and also offer challah, muffins, scones, cookies, sandwiches etc. Add it to your list of bakeries to visit! (And Hoffman’s Bakery is also in Redmond, so stay in town long enough to visit both.) I love the cranberry orange ones but salt bagels with plain cream cheese are my favorite. The crunch of the salt, the creaminess of the schmear—so yummy.

Don’t ever eat a cinnamon crunch bagel, or you will have a new addiction. They are delicious!

Cinnamon crunch with hazel nut cream cheese. It completes me.

I love winco if I just need something and it’s not on sale at the regular grocery stores, especially canned and boxed items. Their normal everyday prices are cheaper, but many store sales will beat them. Also their meat and produce don’t seem to be near as good quality and spoils quickly in my experience. They are also open 24 hours which is great if you are up super early!
