The Girl and I will be watching this classic tonight. Ahhh, Black Stallion. I think she wore the VHS tape out when she was a kid we watched it so. many. times. But truth be told, it was actually one of the movies she watched that I too loved just as much as she did. It’s basically the story of a boy and his love for a horse. It’s so good and it just so happens to be free with Amazon Prime right now.
Did you love this one, too? What’s your very favorite classic movie from your childhood? I’ll add it to my list!
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

Yes, this movie is a beautiful classic and not to be missed. It is slow-moving, though, so I’d suggest it for kids 10 and over. My favorites as a child–which was when you had to go to the theater to see anything–was Pete’s Dragon, Annie, and The Slipper and the Rose. All of them are musicals, but The Slipper and the Rose is virtually unknown, which is too bad. It is a musical of the story “Cinderella” and stars Richard Chamberlain and Gemma Craven. It is nearly three hours long, has complications that are not in the original fairy tale (though not many), and came out in 1976 or 77. I think that because they aimed it at an older audience, it just kind of fell by the musical wayside. The music/songs and special effects are incredibly beautiful, though (for the ’70s), and I highly recommend it–if you can find it. I own my copy because it is so obscure.

Beautiful movie! When my boys were young, this was one of their “3 B movies” (Balto, Black Beauty, and Black Stallion). The little boy is 51 years old now, according to Wikipedia…sheesh! Happy watching!
