I think it’s been pretty well documented here on the blog how much I loath shopping for clothes. Not only can I not relate to the current fashions {someone please tell me the ripped jean and women wearing stretch pants that were designed for toddlers phase is over already} but I also feel like I can’t relate to current t.v. shows/movies/commercials or the music on the radio, or really even the general nonsense of people’s attitudes or all that is going on in the world today. So you know, that can only mean one thing, I am turning into an old person.
Yada yada yada…. The neighbors invited us to dinner. There will be other couples there. I have to dress like a normal human and not like someone who wandered out of the woods.
It used to be that I could load up on my beloved long sleeved black tee from the Gap every few years but sadly, the quality went way down and then they phased it out and so these days I find myself checking the L.L.Bean two a day markdown for something I might like {which is a shot in the dark because maybe once every 3 months something I like pops up}.
I went to TJMaxx for the second time in my life yesterday. {Mrs. HB’s FAVORITE store}. And as you can see from the photo above, I’m not really into clothes. Comfortable shoes, my favorite boot cut jeans {long live the boot cut!} Costco tank top, and an L.L. Bean cotton rugby with sleeves that will never be long enough for my monkey arms.
Anyway, I gathered up a bunch of clothes {I told the HH who was wandering around the store that it would only take 5 minutes} and found the dressing rooms. I started to head back to a room but a lady stopped me and wanted to count my items {weird} and then handed me a card with the number 10 on it.
Mavis: What is this?
Lady: It’s a number card.
Mavis: What do I do with it?
Lady: You take it with you.
Mavis: And….. Do I hang it on the door?
Lady: No, you bring it back to me when you are done trying on clothes.
And then I explain to the lady that I haven’t tried on clothes in a store in like 10 years and ask if I am supposed to bring all the clothes back to her when I’m done and she says yes and looks at me like I am a total weirdo.
Alrighty then. We’re off to a good start.
The first thing I tried on was a winner. I mean really, how can you go wrong with a blue cashmere sweater and some sort of pull on magic pants that fit right out of the gate.
Or at least I think they fit. The tag said “ankle” so I assume that means the pants are supposed to hit right at your ankle. But is that ABOVE the ankle or below? Since I’ll be wearing loafers, it doesn’t really matter, right?
Outfit #2. In theory, I liked the sweater. It was soft, and warm and the color was nice. But as soon as I put it on I was reminded that I don’t like loose fitting clothing but so wish I could be the person who doesn’t mind a flowy top. Mrs. HB, she loves flowy tops… and scarves. Me, I can’t help myself from thinking stuff like that will get caught on something and require a trip to the ER.
Too loose. But possibly good for a buffet.
Nice, but itchy.
I had to struggle to keep the pattern lined up across the chest. I could have probably gone a size up but then the sweater would have been to baggy.
I liked this one much better. Plus, it had a zipper. What is it about a zipper that makes you feel so secure? Like you’re a package, and the zipper is the tape that holds everything together. Zippers are rad.
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this sweater. I walked up to the register knowing I wasn’t going to buy this sweater but just wanted to hang on to it a little bit longer in case I changed my mind. I went to bed telling the HH about this sweater. I even woke up this morning thinking about the sweater.
It was so soft, and grown up looking, and a little on the artsy side and way out of my comfort zone and I would have no place to wear it, but now I want to go back and get it. But I probably won’t. If only it had a zipper or buttons or something so that the front had some sort of closure.
All in all, the shopping trip was a success. We were in and out of the store in 10 minutes and I went home with 2 sweaters and a pair of pants. I think I’m good, for the next 10 years. đ
Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone,
~Mavis
Quick question: Clothes shopping. Do you love it or loath it? Curious minds want to know.
lynne says
Love your attitude on shopping…cuz it’s identical to mine! Get in, get out. Loathe it with a passion. TJ’s and Kohls are the only 2 places I’ll shop for clothes, and that’s MAYBE once a year (coincides with the dreaded once a year bra shopping trip – UGH!) LynneinMN
katie p nc says
If its something YOU are thinking about the next morning, go back and get it! I do that occasionally and usually find something in my closet that I can tell myself is similar so I don’t go back and buy it but I have a feeling there is absolutely nothing like that long sweater in your closet. You can always hand sew in some hook and eyes if you want a closure. Or wear it with a belt ( I know that’s a looooooong shot for you). Go buy it!
Meg C says
I was totally going to say this too!!! Youâll regret not having that sweater & its easy to add a closure or two. đ
Tracie@SomewhatAwry.com says
Totally agree with Meg C and Katie P NC!
Terena says
BUY THE SWEATER! It’s passed the 24 hour ‘think about it’ test! And you’re handy; sewing on a button or hook will not baffle you
Heather says
Go buy the sweater!
Kathy G says
Go buy the sweater. It gorgeous. Wear it to your next adult education class, or peeping at porches, or wandering the beach.
Deborah says
The sweater was awesome,
Go back and buy it. You are so stubborn….
Caitlin says
Go get the sweater, bring it to a seamstress (you are busy enough with the shades) and have them add a zipper or some sort of closure!
Molly Jo says
“The Sweater” is so me, but the one above it with the zipper is so YOU! Hope that is one you purchased along with the ankle pants.
I wear lots of flowy loose wild color clothes, being the old hippie that I am, but you can rock anything with your fab figure.
Robin in WI says
I’m the same re: taste in clothes and clothes shopping. I loathe store shopping so much that I buy most of my clothes online. Risky fit-wise, but that’s what Amazon Prime is good for. đ My husband is the opposite: He enjoys browsing and buying clothes in a store, and has more shoes and clothing than I do. He doesn’t like the way I shop — I write a list of what I want beforehand, go straight to those things, pay, and get the hell out. đ
Anne says
That sweater was the best looking one. You can always wear it on date night. Go back and get it.
Vanessa says
I hope you bought the black one with the zipper.
Teresa says
UGGGHHH…I HATE shopping for anything! I even hate the grocery store. I guess I do not have the gene to shop. I do however love a good thrift store. Never know what’s going to be there it’s more of an adventure. Even thrift stores are only an occasional outing. When I find a pair of pants I like that fit I’ll buy 3-4, usually navy blue or black. Life’s too short, just NOT a shopper.
Katie says
Go back and get the sweater!!! If you love it and woke up thinking about it, it’s worth it. Even if you only ever wear it at home. Shopping is hit or miss for me. I usually do it every couple of years. One, I don’t like spending money on it, and two, Depending on the day (ha) I may or may not feel comfortable with my body trying on clothes. My husband though, he LOVES clothes shopping.
Diana says
I agree with your ‘loves’. The first teal blue sweater was a knockout. LOVED it. I really liked the one with all of the diamonds on it – I think it was more sophisticated looking and would work for ‘functions’, lol. As for the one that got away, go back and get it. You can always add a zipper or buttons or some kind of closure to it to make you feel more ‘packaged’, lol. I still think of a couple of sweaters I didn’t buy many moons ago and wish I’d gotten them…
Diana says
And, by the way, YOU are looking FAB! Looks like Muffy has hit the road!
Jennifer says
Most under served demographic for clothes design is the 40+ through 60+. Not into holes in my clothes or “cold” shoulder tops but certainly not ready for elastic waist double knit pants either. Don’t mind shopping but mostly I wander around trying to find something I’m even willing to try on and just end up going to the kids department for my grands. Have you ever gone to LL Bean’s outlet in Freeport? I’ve also found Eddie Bauer good for pants & shorts.
Anne says
Hear, hear! Where are those clothes sources these days for adults who are not seniors?!
suzanne says
I shop on line. Eddie Bauer and J Jill. They ship for free with a code and I can return locally. It’s nice to try on in my own home with my other clothes. They both have 50% off sales which includes thier clearance clothing. They both have nice pima cotton tees.
Andrea at Opulent Cottage says
It would be so easy and cute to add toggles to that sweater!
E in Upstate NY says
Used to not mind shopping, but now think its a royal pain in you know where. Have recently lost [on purpose] a lot of weight. So I’m “shopping” my clothes stash. Now that’s fun, rediscovering clothes you bought years ago and can wear again. Don’t talk changing fashion though, as I’m still gonna wear something if I like it.
Did have to purchase new bras though. The sale clerk took pity on me when I was standing in the store just looking, feeling overwhelmed. When she asked me what color, I just laughed. In my day the options were “nude,” white or sometimes black. She offered measuring me in private. Another laugh, you haven’t been in the hospital much, have you, I asked? Have another 20 pounds to lose, here’s hoping that the bras still fit. Can almost fit a skirt my mom made me when I was in high school. Now those fashions are coming back again.
Love reading your postings, please understand that they have provided great enjoyment these past years that have been absolutely horrible for me.
Karen says
You definitely need to go back and get a few of the other pieces……keep the blue cashmere, light grey with design, the darker sweater and the long one. Also need another pair or long pants to go with them all. If you wait, you will never see or get again. In a few months they will start with summer clothes:)
Since you are in town you will find that you are more social and needing the clothes! Since retirement I have found out that I also needed a different wardrobe and have been enjoying getting it. You are quick!
susan matthews says
Oh, Mavis, please go get the sweater. It looks positively divine. And then sew some cords on the front to make ties, nice cording. Or get some faux suede and sew tabs with buttonholes to bridge the opening with a lovely button on the other side. There’s so many ways to accomplish this, so don’t let THAT be an impediment. A suede loop with a nice silver button. I love to sew; can you tell?
Teri says
I like the first two the best but they all look fab on you! Wish I had your figure. Let us know what you bought, hope the dinner invite is a good time.
Arlene says
Hi! I don’t think I ever posted here before but I read your blog all the time! I used to love to shop but now, not so much. I don’t know if it’s getting older that is doing it or what. I love the choices you made at TJMaxx. I really like that store and usually shop there. Get that sweater you like! If you wait, it will be gone. I recently saw a jacket I liked and didn’t buy and I went back after a few days and it was gone. Ugh You can wear anything because you are thin and everything probably looks great on you. Ok, go get that sweater before it’s gone!!
Mrs. C. says
I really hate it. I think I was in TJ Maxx once, about 15 years ago.
Sara says
Have you bought anything from Amazon Essentials? They have shirts that come in two packs, various colors and sleeve lengths.
Margaret G Hudgins says
I have tried buying a few things at Amazon, but they were ALL way too small; made in the Orient somewhere? Anyway, no luck there. I have, however, tried Lands End. Their item are mostly made of cotton, a factor that I really love. I Have just begun trying to lose weight, by drinking KETO COFFEE. I mix one packet with either hot or cold 8oz of water. So, eight lb since the 4th of October WITHOUT trying.
Amy says
Canât stand shopping. I time out as soon as I walk through the doors. I try and stick to online shopping only. I dress almost identical to you. I purchase black shirts in bulk. Jeans are hard. Iâm short. If you really like the sweater you could get it and take it to someone to add a zipper. Totally worth it if you love it.
Lindsey says
Hate clothes shopping!!! Love amazon prime wardrobe. Pick a bunch of crap, try it on, return what you donât like in a prepaid box and only get charged for what you kept.
Connie says
I love shopping! I usually shop at the store, but occasionally Iâll shop on line, especially when free shipping is offered. My favorite stores are Dress Barn, Kohlâs and Boscovâs. Since Dress Barn is closing, Itâs Kohlâs and Boscovâs and you can order online. I donât go for tight clothes or ripped jeans. Iâm more into comfortable, looser clothing. My thought is when they are washed, they may shrink because I put everything in the dryer. Please go back for the sweater and while youâre there, a few more things. You might be invited to a few more dinners or host your own dinner!
Mrs HB says
Connie I think you and I would get along just fine . Mrs HB
Connie says
Mrs HB, I know the majority of women loathe shopping, but itâs my retail therapy! Glad Iâm not alone!
Judy says
Hi Mavis, first of all you look fantastic. I like grocery and thrift store shopping but not clothes shopping? I recently lost some weight so for the first time in 8 yrs went to buy some jeans. That was fun only bec I went from a size 12 to an 8. Ripped jeans, I think they look ridiculous. Anyway loved the clothes you picked out so nice, but go back and buy that beautiful sweater.
JulieP says
I hate it and hope the clothes in my wardrobe will last forever! Sadly though two pairs of jeans have split through being paper thin in the seat so next year I may have to venture out. I can cope with online shopping but have had to complain to one of my favourite shops recently as they stopped selling ânormalâ jeans, what is it about stretchy jegging and cropped jeans with already worn patches, rips etc. I just want straight blue or black jeans, like one of your other commenters I bought four pairs last time so I still have two pairs in reasonable condition but that was four years ago oh and by the way go back and buy the sweater, if you are thinking about it first thing in the morning youâll find a way to be comfortable in it!
Jessica says
I highly recommend Costco online! Most items on their website do not require a membership. You can just check out without a membership as you would any other online store. If an item is âmembers onlyâ it clearly says so. If you wanted a members only item, I would imagine Mrs. HB or your parents or someone you know with a membership would let you use their membership number. You can return in store or ship back.
I love the Felina long sleeve t-shirt 2 pack! Where can you find good quality soft cotton shirts for $5 each!? They are marketed for layering so I went up a size from my usual for a looser fit as I donât want them skin-tight. And no membership required to buy them!
I think Costco carries a good mix of trendy styles that appeal to some and traditional styles that appeal to others. They even have big brands like Columbia, Eddie Bauer, and Pendleton. Highly recommend you browse through their website!
Jennifer Bouknight says
I despise shopping. I am a plus-plus size, so that makes it extra fun. Malls? Not in 20+ years. I’m in Wal-Mart all the time and very likely to grab something off the hanger, take it home and try it own. If it fits, I grab more in that size next trip. WM has stepped up their clothing game, fwiw.
Susie Janov says
Go get the sweater! And I’m glad you didn’t get that light gray top. The ribs across it reminds me of the Stay-Puft marshmallow man.
Min says
Agree with everyone else who said go back and buy the sweater. A good tailor can give you help with a closure. If you loved the pants buy another couple of pairs, good fit is hard to find.
Wynne says
Good for you for skipping the long sweater! It’s possible to enjoy admiring something without needing to buy it, especially if it’s something that doesn’t seem easy to wear. I have monkey arms, too–I use them as license to shop in the men’s section. đ
Peg says
Your before photo made me laugh because that’s how I look when I dress up! Love the blue sweater and the dark zipper one. And yes, if you’re still thinking about that last sweater, by all means go back and get it.
Terri says
I dont like shopping for clothes either. At this point I will grab things I like at Costco, or Value Village, or a few online stores.
I havenât set foot in a retail store in forever. Why? Let someone else pay the big $$$
SandyF says
TJ Maxx is my sister & my therapy while we were caregivers for my elderly Dad. We still meet once per month for a TJ Maxx day and lunch. Much cheaper than therapy and we get great bargains. I have so many sweaters now though…a but embarrassing.
We are meeting tomorrow morning at 10 am in fact. I love clothes and love shopping ( an inherited gene I am afraid) I enjoy buying gifts for people and finding just the right special thing.
As long as we stay in check and we can afford it- we are good, but if it ever is an issue financially, we can live without it.
TJ Maxx is the best store ever created! I am with Mrs. HB! (And for God’s sake-go back and buy that damn sweater-it’s just a sweater, (you pick out houses faster than you buy a sweater)-you can do this kid!!!)
Mrs Hillbilly says
Love that you and your sister share this time . Mine is too far away and my adopted â sisterâ left me for the east coast , ( we know who that is ) though we would never have shopped together ! Now I see she needs me and my skills . Hoping I can visit soon and will take her shopping properly.
SandyF says
Side note: My dear friend and bakery owner is on tonights episode of “Chopped Sweets” on Food Network.
Her name is Rachel Klemek and her bakery is Blackmarket Bakery in Costa Mesa CA. We are all partying together tonight as we watch her compete.
Please watch! She’s as an amazing person as she is a pastry chef. I am just so proud of her.
Martha Stewart is one of the judges tonight. We are so excited for her-she works her tail off and is so deserving of this!
She taught me how to bake and took me to the next level of baking. Watch “Chopped Sweets” and root for Rachel!!
Gwenn says
Mavis – have you tried Lands’ End? Their clothes are similar to LLBean (which I LOVE) and they have Ladies Tall sizes which work great for peeps like us who have monkey arms and/or like shirts & sweaters that don’t ride up when you crouch down or bend over. Also have you looked at Duluth Trading Co.?
Mary says
My closet is full of Duluth – comfy and very practical here in the NEk of Vermont.
Pj says
I hope the blue cashmere sweater went home with you. I would go back and buy the artsy long sweater. I am sooooo with you on shopping and not wanting the crazy fashion trends. You looked awesome in the blue sweater.
Mable says
I am afraid I do not agree with all the folks urging you to go back and get the sweater. Why? You have enough clothes, you say, so you don’t need it. What is the point of mindless and useless consumerism? And especially if you would only end up wearing it in the house—why are you dressing up in something new, to impress yourself? The fashion industry is one of the most environmentally damaging ones. Whatever happened to the idea that a sufficient amount of clothing is enough? I would rather spend money on experiences…but then I am a weirdo when it comes to clothes. I think of them as strictly utilitarian so I have always appreciated your style of dressing.
Athena says
I don’t mind clothes shopping. I used to love it when I was younger. So much of it now I do online though and it’s always a crap shoot if it will fit or not. We live in a tiny city (13,000 people thanks to the local military base) and the only real places to shop locally are Walmart or the BX on base. The nearest larger city to shop at is about 45 minutes away and when we go we already have so much planned with family events, Costco, Trader Joes and WinCo stops that shopping for clothes rarely happens. Hubby felt like he needed so new pants that actually fit him and aren’t too big and we even did that shopping at Costco rather than a traditional store!
Cass says
Shopping? UGH!! A while back I found a brand of pants that makes Jeans and Slacks. Size 14P. 5 pairs Out of the package on my body and I am done for the year. Shirts? I like them bigger so I order Ladies sizes (I wear misses) from “old lady catalogs” and I am done.
When it came time for my father’s funeral, I HAD to go to the store for something appropriate. I was far more traumatized by shopping for an outfit than I was by the loss of my father. (I’m not cold; he was old and it was his time)
And don’t even get me started on shoe shopping. I wore the same style and size of slip on sneakers for over a decade. They stopped making them. I am babying the last pair I own until I find another style that works for my foot.
When my son got married my daughter in law took her mother shopping for a dress for the wedding. It took over 9 hours to get a dress, shoes and undergarments. (2 meals were involved, it took so long)
My daughter in law was kinda dreading taking another “mother” shopping for a dress. My son assured her it wouldn’t be the same. Set a time to meet (11 am) and agreed to eat lunch at Mall together when we were done. We each found a dress we liked, I tried all three on and got the one she liked. (10 minutes down) Found a bra that worked with the neckline of the dress. (20 minutes down) Paid for them both, after grabbing a half slip on way to register that was short enough to work under dress. 30 minutes and we are leaving store through the Mall entrance, looking for shoes. I tried on 4 pairs of shoes (My foot is weird). Bought the last pair that I tried on because they fit and we all liked them. We were sitting at restaurant at 12. Daughter in law is like “OMG, that was FAST!!!” Yeah, I hate shopping that much. Less than an hour and I am dressed for my #1 son’s wedding. LOL
Mavis Butterfield says
That last bit had me cracking up! In and out in an hour and that’s taking into consideration other people’s opinions on what you were wearing. Well done.
Linda says
Before my sons wedding, I was in a consignment store with a friend when she spotted a dress in just the color I wanted for the wedding. She encouraged me to try it on. I did and it fit like a glove. I hesitated to buy it thinking, âshouldnât I look around for more dresses? Shouldnât this take longer than 5 minutes?â I bought the dress and never regretted that I didnât have the weekend trip my daughter-in-law & her mother had shopping for a dress.
Christa H says
Yes- go get the sweater! I agree- I don’t own leggings or ripped pants. Can’t do it. I have a terrible time finding comfortable but nice clothes that aren’t revealing to wear teaching.
robin says
OMG…….I thought I was the ONLY one who shopped this way! Mavis, did you get any “pickety bits” in the checkout line? There’s Jelly Bellies, Licorice bites, and crunchy stuff. Just sayin’…………..LOL!
Ellen C. says
Yes, go back and get the sweater. I agree with another reader’s suggestion that you can wear this on a beach stroll or just wrap up in it at home. Also agree with other suggestions about having a tailor add closures to it so you are more comfortable.
As for shopping at malls, I don’t enjoy it very much because I am tall with large feet so finding correct length pants is difficult and finding a narrow shoe in my size is practically impossible. I shop online with much success.
I happily disagree with your dislike of leggings. They are extremely comfortable and look very nice with the proper length tunic/shirt/blouse. They look great with boots. I agree with Mrs. HB concerning scarves – they are a fantastic accessory. I haven’t had any accidents with a scarf yet!
Mrs Hillbilly says
Thank you for the scarf comment ! I am always cold and they save me and my neck! I think Ms. Mavis just needs to learn how to eat so not to tarnish the scarf . Lol ! I know she would Love them if she would just give them a chance !
Mrs. M says
I also don’t like shopping. I shop this way too, on the rare occasion I clothes shop… get a handful of things i like, try them all on, buy what fits that I’ll wear, leave the rest. No second trips to the dressing room. I usually leave empty handed.
I went back to work after homeschooling our children for 20 years. I HAD to clothes shop… luckily I can wear Jeans at work. I found one pair that fit in a store but it was a petite. Went home and found 4 pair online (same size but regular length). Hopefully, they’ll last me years!
I only dry my clothes long enough to get the wrinkles out, then hang them up. I’m hoping this makes them last longer. I have some clothes I’m sure friends and family are tired of seeing, but they fit and I like them. Lol
I’m glad you had a successful shopping trip, Mavis!
Tracy says
Psst! Please know that one does not wear socks with ankle length pants. Brrrrr….
Mrs. Hillbilly says
All I have to say is that I should have been with you to optimize your experience . But unfortunately I am on the other side of the country . Maybe when I visit we can go back ? đ
Teresa Young says
When I find an item that I like & fits well, I buy it in multiple colors, just so I don’t have to try on more things.
Pam says
I love the comments!
1) yes Eddie Bauer for a nice weight t-shirt
2)that sweater is perfect as a light jacket too (add a zipper if you like) and who doesnât like something a little longer over their hind end when the cold wind blows
Linda says
Do I enjoy conventional clothes shopping for modern clothes? No…oh no. no, no, no! The clothes are too loud, too unstructured, and too common! And, who decided florescent light in the dressing rooms was a good idea? Is there a less flattering light? NO! I feel so indignent about this, I’ll say it French. NON!! What I do like is to go to thrift stores and buy “old classics” to restyle or bring back to former glory. They really don’t make them like they used to. But, I do! One of the ladies who replied to your post commented that she rather buy expreriences than clothes. For those of us who sew, clothing projects are experiences! In fact, I was taking apart an old “Gunny Sax” style dress, (remember those from the 70’s?), while reading your blog. Someone had turned it into a princessy sort of Halloween costume. She included some home crocheted lace across the top of the bodice. Awww! She really cared about the person she made this costume for. Was it her daughter? Or maybe her grandaughter? I love little details like this. It makes me feel close to the previous seamstresses. For me, this makes sewing and wearing “make overs” worth while. It’s History and Art rolled up together in some old fabric that most people overlook. It’s my passion!
Now, about that much coveted sweater. The color and texture of it remind me of the beatuful rugs that you make. Could it be that you didn’t buy it because your subconscience artist wants to make one? I bet you could!
Thanks for you blog. It’s always a delightful way to start my day!
Linda says
Oops! I just realized that when I said bad things about modern clothes it might be read as an insult to your taste. Not at all! When I have to wear practicle clothes, I dress very simularly to you. Jeans and a long sleeve T-shirt. The T-shirt for warmth and comfort and the jeans for… well, I think of jeans as modern day corsettes for the booty, belly and thighs. You don’t need it daaaaaarling, but some of us love cookies too much. It’s sad really, but there it is.
Lynne says
Long sweaters are super warm. Better than wearing a puffy indoors.
Linda Practical Parsimony says
You can buy tabs that sew onto each side and close with a toggle. There is slit on the tab on one side and a little barrel-shaped piece to go into the slit.
Kristen says
Lady-girl! I completely agree with almost every. Single. Old lady remark about fashion, leggings, etc. So, we are on the same page. BUT! The artsy sweater! If the clouds parted, the fog lifted, the birds sang and the choirs all rejoiced with the putting on of this sweater, then please go back to TJ and buy it. Wear while you hook. Where it out on dates with the HH in lieu of a coat (or have the coat in the backseat). Wear it to gardening shows and general stores. Shame on you. Go get the sweater.
Paula W says
Mavis, I can’t help but just giggle when I read your posts… you see, I am probably your twin somewhere along the line because we are two peas in a pod. I totally get you but I must tell you I AM an old lady but according to those who know me say I always was! My mom used to say I was born old!

Love to shop for clothes. I am a costumer so I guess it’s part of the job. I primarily shop second hand. Better for the earth. Let’s use what’s already here instead of supporting sweat shops. I also like to repurpose fabric and turn items into something else. Like a man’s blazer into a tweedy purse or skirt. Fun!
