Anyone up for a trip to the beach? I don’t know about you, but I am SO READY for summer and long uninterrupted walks along the beach to collect heart shaped rocks and seashells. I miss the long stretch of shoreline the HH and I are used to walking along {that has been shut down the past few weeks}.

I was in our little general store the other day to grab a gallon of milk when I spotted a box of Maine saltwater taffy on the shelf. I suddenly remembered I had a new Yankee Candle Seaside Holiday candle at home and before I knew it I was putting together this sweet little care package for a giveaway.

Maybe you can’t make it to the beach, or maybe you’d love to send someone a little care package to brighten their day, whatever the reason, one lucky One Hundred Dollars a Month reader will win this little box of goodness. 🙂

All you have to do to enter this giveaway is leave a comment below and answer this one question: If you could take a mini vacation anywhere in the world right now, where would you go? That’s it, just answer that one little question and you are entered to win.

Comment must be left on the blog to count as an entry. 1 entry per person/ip address. If you cheat, you will totally be disqualified. This particular giveaway can be shipped anywhere within the United States of America.

This giveaway ends Sunday, May 3rd @9 pm EST and and the winner will be announced on Monday, May 4th in the weekly shopping trip post. The winner will be notified via email and have 48 hours to claim their prize. If the prize is not claimed within 48 hours, the prize will be forfeited and I will burn your candle and eat your taffy.

      Here’s my entry – I’d like to go to Door County (in Wisconsin). There’s a little inn we love – one of the rooms is tiny, with a fireplace, and I’d like to take a nap with the porch door open, listening to it rain outside. (It’s my safe happy place).

      To Seattle to see my granddaughter, son and daughter-in-law. I miss them. We have been isolated for six weeks. I am grateful I have a wonderful place to be but I am missing my family terribly. Stay home stay well and stay safe.

    Any beach any where. When going through cancer treatments I started dreaming of the beach and even with treatments being done, life has still kept me from going. Any beach with warm sand and waves rolling in.

    I’m sitting and thinking and thinking about where I would go and I’d just like to get away by myself somewhere I’ve never been but where I can get lost and just walk and think and sleep and read when I want and wander when I want. A sleepy town or a busy beach or a remote cabin; I don’t know which but just dreaming about the possibility is enough for now 🙂

      My dream would be to deal with the isolation that this pandemic has put upon all of us in the solitude of Acadia National Park to watch the sunrise on Cadillac mountain, listen to Thunder Hole roar, visit Jordan Pond House for popovers, look for seashells on Sand Beach, and admire the carriage roads and rustic stone bridges.

    Maine! My husband and I were supposed to go to London over spring break, but that got canceled. Slowly everything got canceled. AND I realized that for the first time in a long time he would be home for my birthday and our anniversary. So I started planning.     Take a trip back to my home state of MA and visit Kelly’s on Revere beach for fried clams . Sit in a pavilion and fight with the gulls who are fast as lighting and brazen as all get out. They have perfected the dive bomb. I have seen them swoop, grab and fly off with pint containers of fried clams! The food, ocean breeze and the sights are just what is needed!

    If it was just a quick getaway I’d definitely pick a beach. Somewhere tropical maybe? I grew up going to the Chesapeake bay though so that would also be a nice, nostalgic getaway. For a full blown vacation I’d choose Italy!

    Thanks for the wonderful giveaway. We in Chicago are having a ridiculously cold spring — it still feels like winter, with highs in the 40s much of this week…it’s been a long 6 months and counting of cold weather.

    And speaking of taffy, I worked in the commissary at Cedar Point when I was 19. We made a lot of stuff for the rest of the park including taffy base. And the temperature we heated it to changed day to day based on the weather.

    My 10 year old wanted to go camping at McCormick’s Creek Indiana State Park for his 11th birthday next month. They have an incredible waterfall! Camp grounds are closed here due to lock down. So, that’s where I would go, in a second, and make his dream come true!

    Hi! I would go to Los Osos, CA. It’s a lovely little bedroom town on the central coast of California. My in-laws live there. We were supposed to go there for their 50th anniversary in March and take them to their favorite restaurant – alas, it didn’t happen due to this new crazy world. And….They can’t get out as they have compromised immune systems. I would give them the gift as a sweet small reminder of the walks they used to take on the beach most every day. And wish them many more sweet years together.

    I would want to go to Laguna Beach in California. There is small hotel right on the beach. I would take my daughters and son. The girls and I could lay on the lounges on the beach with the umbrella, talk and read and
    be together after this time, I miss them so much. My son (young adult with autism) would go in the water and
    make sand castles. It is a quiet place, long walks on the small beaches, walk to the town to get starbucks or
    to the local sandwich/shake shop. Sounds like heaven.

    Honestly, anywhere would be nice. My husband has been medically disabled for the past 6 years, so we’ve not had a vacation in 7 years. We used to do Disney every year, and were just contemplating going for my ‘big’ birthday next month even if we could only do a day or two. Now Disney is shut down and we can’t even do a birthday party with family. Our plan is to stay at home, I’m taking the day off from work, and we’re going to watch Disney/Universal point of view ride videos on YouTube while eating some Disney inspired recipes. 🙂

    Niagara Falls because it is close enough to drive there. We could see the falls at night when they have lights on them. Then we could go gamble at the casino a little bit. Eat dinner at a nice restaurant. Stay over in a hotel or B&B and drive home the next day.

    Anywhere? Honestly Ogunquit, Maine! My grandparents moved to Louisiana from Ogunquit when Gramps took a teaching position (music professor) at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. They kept their beachside cottage home in Ogunquit, however, and traveled there every summer when I was growing up. When they would return every fall, Grammie would have such wonderful treasures for me: seashells collected from her walks on the beach, a box of salt water taffy and the best maple melt in your mouth candy among the items. Sadly we never got to visit in person with them, but I felt Ogunquit come alive in all of the black and white photos they took and shared with us. Ogunquit is tops on my bucket list of places to visit!

    That is a super hard decision but if I could choose I guess it would be Costa Rica. My daughter went there for a school EF Tours trip a couple of years ago and it was beautiful! i was so jealous that I couldn’t go.     I love TIllamook, Oregon! Hubby and I call it “TillaMoo!” It’s not like the snazzy little coastal towns you see such as Cannon Beach and Rockaway. It’s a farming community, home of the famous Tillamook Cheese & Ice Cream. There’s a YMCA, Farmers Market, roadside veggie stands, Five Rivers coffee shop, and plain ole folks. Love it!

    My first thought was Hawaii because I’d love to be someplace warm.
    But on 2nd thought I’d go to Wisconsin to visit my grandchildren and their parents
    because we miss them so much and don’t know when the next trip will be allowed.

    Thank you for the fun giveaway! Your whale ornament is adorable and reminds me of The Blue Whale, an iconic stop along Route 66 in my hometown of Catoosa, Oklahoma.

    Right now, the mini vacation I’d like to make is to leave my beach (Outer Banks, NC) to travel to the beach where my mother lives. She’s 89 and with social distancing, I’m missing her! For another vacation, Australia or a far away island would be great.

    I would love to take a family vacation to Pigeon Forge, TN! Every year my grandparents, parents, brother and his family and my family rent a big cabin and have the best time enjoying the mountains, dinner shows, shopping and boatloads of laughter! It is a very special time we look forward to every year.

    I would go to the British Isles in a heartbeat. Cornwall, HighGrove Manor, London, Scottland and Ireland sounds positively dreamy! It’s on my bucket-list, and I will make it there. It just won’t be anytime soon.

    I’d take the kids to Disney World. We were supposed to go for spring break (March 20) and it closed the week before. We haven’t been in years, and we were really looking forward to it.

    Chincoteague Island VA would be my dream vacation right now! It’s where HH and I spent our honeymoon 31 years ago this summer. The wild ponies on the beach and that’s it! No boardwalk, restaurants or anything. Just beach. My favorite beach

    I would go camping an hiking on there west side of Michigan. It’s not as wild as the Maine coast, but beautiful as well.

    Normally I’d choose Europe, but since my sibling trip/reunion was cancelled with all the goings-on, I’d reschedule that. We had planned to go to Sedona, Grand Canyon, and Page, AZ. We are sad that it had to be cancelled!

    If I could go anywhere right now it would be Finland. I would get one of those glass huts and watch the Northern Lights from the comfort of my bed.

    The perfect mini vacation for me? A week long road trip to Banff and Lake Louise, in Alberta, Canada with my husband! I just checked it out, we could make it to Banff in under 12 hours from our home in Wyoming. The National Park is still closed right now, but hopefully this summer it will open up and we can make our escape!

    Perfect Mini Vacation? Im assuming that money is no object?
    In that case, I would take my HH and go to the Caribbean where its warm and he will not be in pain. He has Fibromyalgia and hurts all the time. He cooks for me and he does things just to make me smile even though he is in pain. He deserves to have the warm sun shine down on him!! <3

    To visit my brother and nephew in Wisconsin. After years of being in the Army and living far away, we are finally less than 5 hours away from each other and then the virus happened : ( Cant wait for backyard BBQ and family game nights!
