My 14 Goals for 2020
Goal #1 – Take Full Advantage of Having My Husband Home 24/7
Thankful for a husband with a strong back, an awesome work ethic, a sense of humor and who trusts my instincts. No matter how crazy my ideas may seem at the time. We are different in soooo many ways, but 99.5% of the time we agree on the bottom line stuff, which I think has made all the difference in our 26 years of marriage. We work as a team.
Goal #2 – Take Better Care of Myself.
No alarm clock. A lot of walking. Lots of lifting. Eating like a trucker. Unplugged.
Goal #3 – Get Organized
I finished my turkey rug. π He turned out pretty darn handsome if I do say so myself. I hope he likes his new life in Minnesota. Gobble Gobble.
Goal #4 – Get Proper Window Coverings on All Our Windows. Done!
This is the tutorial I used in case anyone is interested. I preferred using the video rather than still pictures because I liked hte verbal instructions and I could hit the pause button 500 million times as I went along.
Goal #5 – Master Bedroom Make Over Done!
Goal #6 – Kitchen Update Done!
Goal #7 – Install Vegetable Garden Done!
I am 100% done with any house related projects for the year {inside and out}.
Goal #8 – Explore More of Maine Done!
I’m calling this one good for the year since I probably packed more into the first four months of the year than most people would have done in an entire year.
Goal #9 – Host Some Sort of Get Together Done!
Goal #10 – Read/Listen to 12 Books {3 more to go. I’m only counting real books, not cookbooks or home decor books}
I tried listening to the audiobook Endeavor: The Ship that Changed the World but couldn’t get into the story {it was probably the narrator’s voice} so I returned it early. I am growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of audiobook choices on both of the free Libby and Cloud Library apps that are available to me through my library and feel like I pay enough in town taxes that I shouldn’t have to shell out money to PAY for audiobooks on another {better} system.
I also refuse to cheat the system – piggy back on family member or a friend’s library account that has a bigger/better {the Hoopla app comes to mind} choice of books. The whole thing makes me crazy.
I might actually have to dedicate 10 hours of my hooking time to READ a book.

Goal # 13 – Reach 5,000 Etsy Sales by the End of The Year DONE!
As of this morning, I have made 5096 sales on Etsy. That’s up from 2804 on January 1st. I LOVE SETTING GOALS… and then knocking them off my list EARLY!
This past week I added a few more bundles of wool to my Etsy shop and now my plan is to park myself on the couch all winter and HOOK HOOK HOOK. Life, it doesn’t have to be complicated.
Goal #14 – Once a Month Menu Planning {for 2}
- The HH’s meal plan for the month: Wandering in the kitchen and looking around for something to eat.
- My meal plan for the month: Real food… starting today. π

Have YOU made any goals for this year? If so, DO TELL! We all want to hear about them.
Have a great Sunday everyone, enjoy the sunshine.

Ditto to what you said about HH. Mine is the same…….work ethic like nobody’s business, hilarious, easy going and we seem to share a brain. Soon to celebrate 44 years. Some would call us boring…… whatever……we are happy as clams.
Elle says
Ditto Kim but we’re just 40 years into this marriage party π I’m with you, if others call our lives boring, whatever……
Nancy D says
Congrats on your wonderful marriage!! 44 years!!!
Nancy D says
And Elle….40 years!!!

With you talking about your husband having a strong back and putting up with your CRAZY ideas, and saying youβre doing lots of lifting, Iβm beginning to think youβre on the move again. Emphasis on the word move
Sue says
Mavis, I 100% know what you mean, but I gotta say — using someone else’s library account (with their permission, of course) to access Overdrive isn’t cheating! That library system gets the benefit of including your use in their statistics!
Any family member or friend who lives in a big urban area, especially a person who doesn’t really use Overdrive themselves, would be thrilled to let you access their account because it benefits their own library to do so.
I don’t want to push so won’t say more, but I hope you rethink this. Audiobooks while doing yardwork/housework/knitting has changed my life in the past few years! <3
Cindi says
I piggyback on my MIL’s account — she doesn’t like audiobooks (go figure!) or ebooks, so never takes advantage of that aspect of her library account — but I do. And since she lives in a very large city, I have access to many more books than I would otherwise.
Kathleen says
Call or email your library with some titles that you would like them to add to their collection ! We appreciate suggestions from our patrons π
Wendy Good says
The new turkey rug is just beautiful!!!! Are you selling the pattern?
Mavis Butterfield says
The pattern is by Ann Nichols from Needle Love Designs. It’s one of my favorite fall rugs to hook.
Jaime says
I started listening to audiobooks because of you; my first was on your list: Birdseye. It was so very good. I subscribe to Audible, and am currently listening to a book about the 1920s β so very good! I listen while I walk in the morning! π
Sue says
Ooh, can I ask what is the title of the 1920s book? I’m listening to a lot from that era and might enjoy it. Thanks!
Sue says
PS — I listened to Birdseye too, and because of Mavis! I have read or listened to several books recommended by Mavis, and lots of others where we both coincidentally liked the same books!
Teri says
I can’t wait to hear what you two have been up to with the lifting and needing your old lady pills. Does it involve an island???
Nancy D says
Congratulations on surpassing 5,000 Etsy sales! Also, the turkey rug is a work of art!
Cherilyn says
Here’s a silly audiobook suggestion for those with children or who just like it- The Harry Potter Series, narrated by Jim Dale. His voice really makes it a wonderful long listen.
Ramona says
I have listened to audio books for more than 20 years. First going to library and checking them out on cassettes, I still have my walkman player. Now I check out from library through Overdrive. I wish they made it easier for what your preferences were or not. I can not stand the romance novels that come up in fiction. No way to make them not show up. I went to my library and asked why there were 3000 romance books. Didn’t the library have better use for the money they received than to buy romance novels? She said most were donated. I find that hard to believe. Usually where it shows books available now most are romance so I think they aren’t as popular as the library thinks. So much for suggesting what books to get. They mentioned I could buy them some that interested me. Now I just put things on hold or once in a while I do find a good one on the available now list.
Mable says
Romances are the largest selling genre. Not to my taste, either, but people seem to love them.
April says
Our local library has audiobooks but also our university library can get books that our local library doesn’t have or that the university library doesn’t have. Might be something for you to check on. Also I’ve heard of a program or app called audiobooks that you join and after you’ve “read” or listened to the book you can trade it back for a different book. Kind of like a library.
Wendy says
Yes could be moving again, to an Island. Must be one with a good bakery though:-)
Becka says
We moved to Michigan in early June and the library has been deemed inessential in our town. So many businesses have closed because of COVID that it was cut because of lack of tax money. Very sad.
