Stay Healthy!
Yesterday the HH and I had a “date day” and took Lucy along with us. One of our stops was to the little beach in Lincolnville so Lucy could get some sand between her paws. She loved it!
I think we’ll leave her home today though when we go for our walk. π After 6 hours in the car yesterday, I think she’s just a wee bit tired.

Get the Photos on My Phone Down to Less Than 1,000 {started the year with 2863 photos}
I got the photos on my phone down to 1172 this week but couldn’t resist taking a screenshot of these legwarmers for cats and sending it to The Girl.
I don’t get it. Who buys leg warmers for cats? Don’t most cats hang out indoors? And if so, why do they need leg warmers? What am I missing here people?
Clean Out My Closet
I didn’t get rid of anything in my closet this past week but I did order a new pair of Duck Feet {my favorite shoe brand} because they started their Black Friday sale early {save 20% with code HOLIDUCK20 at checkout}.
The only thing left on my black friday deal list is waiting to see if DW Home candles has a sale. {Their vanilla bean candles are my all time favorite}.

My List of Garden Projects For This Year I want to Accomplish
It’s official, all my outdoor gardening projects are done for the year!! We ordered 4,000 bulbs and got all but 300 of them planted last week. We were so tired of planting bulbs, that I sent the last 300 to my friend Heather in MA. Sharing in caring, right? π
Now the HH just needs to make me a few birdhouses for Christmas. π
Still left on the list:
Install a simple flower bed border in front of the house{Done}Start a lasagna garden- Install a boatload of birdhouses/feeders in the side yard {re-thinking this one}
Transplant evergreen saplings to the side of property for a privacy border{Done}Clean up and prune the area that faces the road{Done}Install a vegetable garden{Done}Install a sunflower patch{decided for a row along the side of the barn instead}Plant 2,500 flower bulbs in the fall{Done}
Reach 10,000 Sales on Etsy {as of this morning I’ve made 8897 sales on Etsy}.
Only 1103 to go! π
I recently discovered that “sales” on Etsy isn’t the same thing as “items” sold on Etsy. Apparently if someone orders 6 ornaments that are the same {let’s say 6 cardinals} it only counts as 1 sale. But if someone were to order 6 different items, it would count as 6 sales.
So that’s a bummer, and it also means I probably won’t hit my 10,000 goal this year. Oh well. I’ve made almost 4,000 “sales” this year on Etsy and you know what? I think that’s pretty good.

Have a great one,
~Mavis
Melissa says
I’d love to buy one of your rug kits because they’re so cute, but I’ve never done that kind of rug hooking before. Where can I go to learn how to do it? Thanks!
Mavis Butterfield says
Deanne Fitzpatrick has some wonderful videos on how to hook rugs and I have added a link for you below. Her style of finished rugs is a lot different from mine, but she does a wonderful job explaining everything you need to know.
I hope you find it helpful.

Melissa says
Thanks! Do you have the stand like she does or can you hook while it’s on your lap?
Mavis Butterfield says
I learned how to hook without a hoop/stand {it’s much easier with a hoop} but I do like these ones: http://www.etsy.com/listing/109455095/rug-hookers-hoops-are-not-instock-please
Katelyn says
I’m sorry if I’m the 80th person to tell you this but TJ Maxx almost always has the DW Home candles in their candle section, just in case you happen to leave the house and have a hankering. They’re usually $8.99 for the mid size.
Kathie Paje says
Hey Mavis if possible can you let me know if the duck shoes normally fit true to size. Thanks so much
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes. True to size. I have a wide toe box, and these shoes work well for me. They are quality leather though, and stiff when you first wear them {read the reviews} unless you use a shoe stretcher {which I do}.
Kathie Paje says
They don’t ship to Canada! Sad
Mel says
I’ve been doing well with eating more veggies and running this week. Having freezer meals handy frees up a lot of time, but I’ve also been waking up earlier than usual and have finally hit a less hectic stretch at work, so it’s easier to focus on goals with slower mornings and easier days.
Christy says
If Etsy counts “sales” differently than you, oh well. If your goal was to sell X number of items, figure out how many items you sold on Etsy and use that as your number. It might be a little more work but worth it to see how many things you really sold, in my opinion.
tia in boise says
That’s what I was thinking, Christy! (I’m very numbers-oriented, so I would be willing to spend over an hour figuring that out!)
I need to put more tasks that can be done more quickly on my list of goals next year….(deleting photos and emails would be good ones!)
Tracie says
I agree!
Annette says
Is there an incentive from Etsy to reach 10,000 or is that just a personal goal?
Mavis Butterfield says
No, just a personal goal.
Jeanine says
I see the dinghy has a smiling face on itβ¦.good luck with the floating dock.
Katie C says
Iβm always inspired by seeing your progress Iβve been working on getting my photos down on my phone because of your goal and it is silly hard!! So many random pics and screenshots, haha!
Erin says
I’d say forget the window treatments on the back of the house. Is anyone really going to look in from that direction? Then again I’d get rid of all my window coverings (we live in the country) if my husband would let me. He’s always worried a hunter will see him getting changed. I say let ’em look!
Linda Sand says
My doctor said I should not try to get back to my marriage weight as our bodies change as we age and we need to accept that. I think your 130 pound area is fantastic!
Tammy says
I don’t remember if I posted on your recipe or not, but I canned the pickled red onions, and was very happy with them! I used red wine vinegar (same acidity), and paired with the touch of sugar, they taste amazing!
Kathie Paje says
I found the duck shoes, they are on their way to me!! Thank you for sharing
Sherry says
Do you have a dedicated craft room, or is it all over the house? If so, how do you organize your things. I would love to see it. I like to see how other people store their craft things.
Brenda Davis says
Are you going to make a big list of things to do in 2022? I loved this idea and wish I had been as accomplished in 2021! How long did it take you to make the list? Thank you for sharing everything, love your blog.
