Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
The HH finally finished repairing the walls, mudding and adding texture to the walls last night so that means it’s my turn now. Well, actually, he still needs to remove the blind and sand the window frame {but he has assured me that will be done today}.
I’m planning on breaking out the paint cans on Monday. Yee- Haw!
After that, then we can move onto installing the new window covering and light fixture.
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove DONE!!!
Well I did it!!! I finally hit my goal of selling enough of my 2022 hooked rugs and pillows in my Etsy shop to pay for my new Duck Egg Blue AGA cooker. We’re just waiting for the call from the appliance guy to let us know when it’s in.
I’ve now shifted to saving my rug hooking funds for a “research trip” to England to find the perfect scone {so I can duplicate it in my new oven}.
Fill the Canning Cupboard
The canning cupboard is filling up. I’m going to need to find a new home for my mixing bowls, platters and cookbooks asap!
This past week I canned more Costco like salsa and also a batch of tomato bruschetta.
We have plenty of canned tomatoes and tomato sauce to get us through the winter, so I think I’ll keep focusing on salsa and maybe also work on a few sauce recipes.
So far this year I have canned:
- Costco Like Salsa
- Tomato Bruchetta
- Raspberry Blueberry Jam
- Carrot Cake Jam
- Strawberry Lemon Jam
- Blueberry Lime Jam
- Strawberry Jam
- Cinnamon Rhubarb Jam
- Pickled Asparagus
- Ginger Pear Jam

- Split Pea and Ham Soup
- Beef Stew
- Zucchini Relish
- Heirloom Tomato Salsa
Not canned, but in jars:
Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
I’ve decided to wait until fall to list my beach finds. I know this is cutting my selling season a bit short, but with so many other things going on right now, I just don’t have the time to add another thing to my to-do list.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables.
These days I’m getting my daily allowance via tomatoes.
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room.
HA HA HA. So totally not happening right now.
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup {DONE}
It was a good experience, and we’re going to do it again next year {although I would like to find a few more trees to tap so our yield is a bit higher}.
Make a Quilt Top
This is the stack of white fabric I need to cut into 2 1/2″ squares. It’s collecting dust. But September won’t be as crazy, right? I’ll get it done. I’m just not sure when.
1 Craft / Blog Free Day {I’ve had 32 craft/blog free days this year so far.}
So many squash … In such a small space. I counted 5. How many do YOU see?
Be More Intentional With My Time
We met up with The Kiln Guy and The Chef for lunch and while there I spotted the cutest chicken onsie on the planet!! Isn’t it just the sweetest!?
Keep My Husband Busy
Keeping a husband busy… it’s not for the faint at heart. This past week he finished up his repair work in the kitchen AND bought new garage door openers. Yee-Haw. Things are really moving now. 😉

Visit 12 Towns in Maine That I Haven’t Been to Before
So far we’ve visited:
How about YOU? How did you do with working towards your goals for 2022?
~Mavis
Jane says
Hi Mavis, when we lived in Maine and gardened, we had a fence, kept out the many deer, but somehow the darn raccoons would get to the corn. The night before we were able to pick, the raccoons would invade. Every single ear of corn was grabbed and had 1 bite munched. What a mess they made. Cute though, I guess they have those little masks on for a reason.
Linda says
Mavis, what scale do you use to weigh your garden produce? I’ve never weighed anything harvested from my garden, but think it would be fun to track the harvest amounts.
Years ago, before my real garden fence was put in, we put electric fencing around the garden. It’s suggested to run two strands, one 6″ and the other a foot off the ground. It was powered by a solar charger. Not the most convenient but very effective and affordable for interim fencing.
Mary L says
Mavis – My dad would say they gotta eat too…..grrr.
Please add to your goal list – complete & publish the much anticipated Part 3 of ” How to Hook” – loved parts 1 & 2…
Rita says
Where would parts 1 & 2 be found?
Shari Harniss says
Oh, wouldn’t that be wonderful? I’d like to learn but haven’t found a video that I like.

If u have a local quilt store, they may have an accu-cut machine that woud cut your fabric squares in a jiffy!! Usually free, or a minimal price, all exact even.
Nancy D says
Great idea!
Kippy says
I planted lots of vegetable seeds but apparently the birds were watching-not much came up. The one and only butternut squash plant seems to have mostly male flowers or bloom one bloom only each day. So far there is only one baby squash. Lots of kale though, apparently local birds don’t like kale seeds.
Debi says
Goal to read 20 books this year. I am on book #15.
Goal to walk Daisy daily. For August I have walked her all but 6 days so far.
Goal to cook daily – on target.
Goal to earn at least $500/yr from ebay, FB Marketplace and garage/yard sales. Hit target and plan to continue through Sept and Oct for garage/yard sales. Will continue eBay and FB Marketplace through years end.
Goal on gardening – cucumbers and tomatoes just now ripening. Deer got most of my Brussel sprouts. Tons of lemon balm that will be dehydrated. Same with peppermint and spearmint. Potatoes are growing great. Watermelon still have flowers. Pumpkins coming along.

Your canning cupboard is a thing of beauty – truly! Looking forward to seeing the completed kitchen, though surely not as much as you probably are. 😀
