Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
The HH is currently researching espresso makers and grinders and mapping out their size on the kitchen counter.
Not being a coffee drinker I have zero opinion on the matter other than I’m excited that I’ll soon be able to request steamed milk with my afternoon teas and most likely be drinking more London Fogs. 🙂
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove DONE!!!
I hit my goal of selling enough of my 2022 hooked rugs and pillows in my Etsy shop to pay for my new Duck Egg Blue AGA cooker. But since the stove was damaged… We have to wait until the end of May 2023 for the new one to arrive.
Fill the Canning Cupboard DONE
Note to self: Can triple the amount of apple pie filling next year. I’ve been making so many cranberry and apple galettes lately, that I’m down to just 6 jars.

Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
I’ve decided to move this goal to 2023.
I just didn’t have enough time to devote to this goal this year. I had planned on making a few spinner gourd garlands this year for fall, but there is just too much other stuff going on right now to make it a priority.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables.
Lot’s of potatoes and corn this week. 🙂
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room.
No comment.
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup {DONE}
It was a good experience, and we’re going to do it again next year {although I would like to find a few more trees to tap so our yield is a bit higher}.
Make a Quilt Top
My cut quilt squares and quilting fabric for the background have been shipped off my friend Zoë. Her sewing calendar is pretty full right now, but she has me on her list for January.
1 Craft / Blog Free Day a Week {I’ve had 49 craft/blog free days this year so far.}
Yesterday, the HH and I took advantage of the Bank of America free museum days and visited the Farnsworth museum in Rockland, Maine for free.
While we were out we also came across an independent bookstore and a new coffee shop. It was a good {and inexpensive!} date day.
Be More Intentional With My Time
I had planned on drawing out some new rug hooking patterns but ended up spending my extra time making wreaths for the barn and decorating for Christmas.
Usually The Girl is the one who puts up the tree and all the decorations but the timing wasn’t right this year so I did it. And of course the HH made his contribution as well. 😉
Keep My Husband Busy
The HH kept busy with his man chores {putting in snow sticks, getting the car ready for winter, checking the dock, taking a trip to the recycling center and various other things} this week.
The HH’s Honey Do List {so far} for 2022
- Take over cooking {I’ll still do the baking and canning}
Cut down the cluster of trees in the backyardDONE- Build a new set of stairs down to the water.

My House Projects For This Year {so far}
I still have some trim and a door to paint and need to find something to hang over our console table but other than that, I’m nearly done with my house goals for this year.
Things I need to get done this year:
- Finish painting the outside of the house
Finish painting the inside of the house- Make something to hang above our new console table
- Make it look like people actually live here {working on it!}
New window treatment for the kitchen window{Have it, just waiting for the HH to install it}

The leg lamp is back! We had a slow week at our home. I started laying out carboard for next year’s new garden beds (medieval herb garden and an expansion on the kitchen vegetable patch). We are still getting brassica greens from our garden, but we will put the rest of the beds to rest for the winter with a nice layer of leaf mulch this afternoon. We will also make bread today and do some general house cleaning.

I’m making good progress on our goals for the year. I still have $250 to make in side hustle, before I’ll be all of the way there, but the end is in sight!

Laughed out loud when I saw the leg lamp

Mavis,
Copied from the New York Post – maybe a date day trip. LOL. Giant Leg Lamp story.
Fragile? It must be Italian — or Oklahoman!
A 50-foot-tall version of the sexy iconic leg lamp featured in the classic film “A Christmas Story” was erected in a small Oklahoma town to honor the artist who inspired it, according to friends and city officials.
The statue boasts a black high heel and a fringed fiberglass lampshade atop a 10-foot crate marked “fragile” in Chickasha’s new downtown park, the oklahoman.com reported.
The delightfully tacky novelty lamp — which was said to have emitted the “soft glow of electric sex” in the 1983 flick — was the brainchild of the late Oklahoma University visual arts teacher Noland James, residents said.
“Noland was so gifted [and] the guy was very humble. Only to his close personal friends would he mention that he built the original leg lamp,” James’ longtime friend Joe Hutmacher told the paper.
Decades ago, James made the quirky lamp with black hose and pumps out of a lady mannequin and set it up in his office at the school. A producer of “The Christmas Story” later became enamored with it and mimicked it in the comedy, Hutmacher told the paper.

Our LaPavoni espresso machine has been pumping out daily lattes for 35 years. Not the cheapest machine out there, but betting this Italian wonder will be an heirloom passed onto our son! Tell HH to look into them!

YAY! The leg lamp is up!!! I LOVE that thing. I’m seriously gonna go look and see if I can find one for myself, lol.

I am in PAIN reading the new beautiful stove will not be here until May! That is awful. I’ve been looking forward to you having it almost as long as you have! I remember when it came damaged and I was angry, but I missed the May 23 part until today! You’re new kitchen is beautiful as well as your house and it’s location. I’m sure you have more patience than I do so I know you’ll wait it out and enjoy it all the more when the Robin’s Egg Blue baby arrives!
Katie P NC says
Keep us updated on the espresso machine search! I am doing the same thing for a 1-year of being sober gift and the ones I can afford, and I’m not cheaping out here, all have horrible reviews. Readers, if you have a good one around $500-$600 let me know (bonus points if they sell it on Amazon because I have $150 gift card that would be awesome to use).

I made the chicken and corn chowder. I used leftover turkey frozen from thanksgiving and broth from the same turkey. It was so good. I also made the apple and cranberry galettes and served them warm with whipped cream. My kid loved them so much. I will have to make them again. Thank you for sharing your recipes. I loved your garden this year.
