Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
This year we decided to buy our own Christmas gifts. We don’t often buy gifts for each other so it was fun picking out something for ourselves. It just so happened his {a fancy espresso machine} arrived early and is having a little too much fun with it.
Everyday I’m treated to steamed milk for my tea and morning and afternoon hot chocolates.
He even whips up Lucy little puppuccinos complete with a side of biscuits.
However, his latte art could use a little work. He said this one reminded him of Edvard Munch’s The Scream. I just rolled my eyes.
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove DONE!!!
I hit my goal of selling enough of my 2022 hooked rugs and pillows in my Etsy shop to pay for my new Duck Egg Blue AGA cooker. But since the stove was damaged… We have to wait until the end of May 2023 for the new one to arrive.

Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
I’ve decided to move this goal to 2023.
I just didn’t have enough time to devote to this goal this year. I had planned on making a few spinner gourd garlands this year for fall, but there is just too much other stuff going on right now to make it a priority.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables.
Lot’s of butternut squash this past week. Again.
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room.
So much wool… so little time {and space}.
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup {DONE}
It was a good experience, and we’re going to do it again next year {although I would like to find a few more trees to tap so our yield is a bit higher}.
Make a Quilt Top
My cut quilt squares and quilting fabric for the background have been shipped off my friend Zoë. Her sewing calendar is pretty full right now, but she has me on her list for January.
1 Craft / Blog Free Day a Week {I’ve had 50 craft/blog free days this year so far.}
The Duck Lady and I took the day off from life and had ourselves a proper adventure. It was lovely.
Be More Intentional With My Time
Last night we went bowling and played video games and air hockey until we ran out of quarters and had a blast.
Keep My Husband Busy
The only thing he did this past week was play with his new machine. 🙂

My House Projects For This Year {so far}
Well, clearly I won’t be doing any more painting outside this year as it’s too cold and the paint probably won’t adhere that well to the house anyway.
Oh well. There’s still a little touch up work to do inside but besides that, I’m pretty much done with house projects for the year. And you know what, it feels nice.
Things I need to get done this year:
- Finish painting the outside of the house
Finish painting the inside of the house- Make something to hang above our new console table
Make it look like people actually live hereNew window treatment for the kitchen window

Visit 12 Towns in Maine That I Haven’t Been to Before
This past week I went to Skowhegan, Maine for the first time to check out Maine Grains and also visited Johnny’s seed company in Winslow, Maine. We also attended the Garden’s Aglow light festival in Boothbay, Maine so it was a busy week.
I love Maine, and I especially love visiting all the different small towns, especially this time of year when they’re all decked out for Christmas and the downtowns are bustling with people.
So far we’ve visited:
- Brunswick
- Alna, Maine
- Boothbay Harbor
- Washington General Store
- Hope General Store
- Rockland, Maine
- Bath, Maine
- Skowhegan, Maine
How about YOU? How did you do with working towards your goals for 2022?
~Mavis
J in OH-IO says
Mavis, what gift did you pick out for yourself this year? Thanks for taking us along on all your Maine adventures! Love your website and blog! Thank you!
Mavis Butterfield says
The gift I bought for myself won’t really come into fruition for another month so I think I’ll wait until then to talk about it. 🙂 I’m very excited about it though.
Tom says
Hi Mavis! Curious minds want to know, what exactly do you mean by paying for your grocery tab by the end of the year? Thanks, have a Merry Christmas!
Mona says
I am buying myself an espresso maker for Christmas. What did your husband buy? Any advice from him? Thank you.
Mrs. C. says
Me, too, and I have the same questions!
HH says
I bought an ECM Synchronika. The second choice was the Rancilio Sylvia Pro X. I liked the look of the ECM machine better. It’s prettier with a more classic look. Having separate boilers for the steam and hot water are nice to have. You don’t have to wait for the steam after making the coffee/espresso. You can steam the milk at the same time if you want.
Annette says
HH???? Like THE HH?!?
Pam F. says
Curious minds are alive and awake this morning. I can’t help wondering what ever happened to the rock tumbler you received a couple of years ago for Christmas. I expected to see shiny rocks gracing your home.
As for the espresso machine, I think your HH likes to be challenged, also men like gizmos. I look at something like that and think what’s going to be the first thing to break.
Bec says
I’ve been following along with your goals for several years and I’m always amazed by what you’re able to accomplish in a relatively short period of time. We knew we would have two under 2 this year so just had a goal of survival. Now that our youngest is getting a little more manageable, trying to plan ahead for next year and make some realistic goals to have something to work towards.
Mel says
It’s comforting to read this! We only have one, but we are still definitely in survival mode for now because he still eats every hour, day and night. He’s 5 months old and wearing 18 month clothes. Until he lets up on feeds, the little things I get done feel like huge accomplishments.
Bec says
Mel, we have a chunker as well! She’s just shy of 9 months and needs to wear 2t capris. She has thankfully started solids and is giving me a slight break on the feedings. You’ll get there! I know it’s frustrating when you have a list of thing that you want to get accomplished, though. What you’re doing now is the most important thing.
Sue says
What, no frame? Can’t believe you get so many rugs hooked on a hoop!! Hey we just came home from a junior theater production of “A Christmas Story” and guess what object had a central part?? Your leg lamp!!
Cecile says
Hubs and I practically did the same thing, he bought some ‘thing’ to make the tv receive a better connection to the satellite (glad that was for him and not US). I wanted a new pair of Fiskar scissors, the duck bill ones, they are so much easier on the hands. I had to place an order for our man-child, woman-child and our son-in-law child stocking stuffers (read as special golf balls! lol) so I just told him I’d add them to my order, that way I got the ones I wanted! I have a question, on HH’s list of chores you have remodel one bathroom, did he not do that when you moved in or was that considered last year’s project?
