bits and bobs: A random assortment of things; small remaining pieces and things
If you were to go on a solo vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and how long would you go for?
If you could only eat 1 type of fruit for an entire year. What would you choose? {Me? Bananas.}
What are the last 2 movies you saw in a movie theather? {Me? Bridget Jones’ Baby, Little Women.}
What color are your bath towels? Are they all one color, striped, or a hodge podge of a bunch of different colors? {Ours are…. wait for it…. all white.} 🙂
Yes. These are the things I think about when I have too much time on my hands.
Carry On,
~ Mavis

I would take a week in a small Italian village in the Alps. The food, the views, the serenity.
I’m not much for fruit (I know, I know), especially after COVID took most of my taste, but probably bananas.
Dh and I saw Bohemian Rhapsody in 2018. We were living in a small mountain town and the theater was in an old Dollar General with a huge screen and the seats were individual armchairs, love seats and a few couches. I think it seated 40 total, maybe. Cool concept and great prices. $5 matinees, bottled sodas for $1, popcorn was cheap and you could even bring in food from the restaurants on that street.
Our towels are a deep green with some blue tint, so they are less of a hunter green and maybe a tealish color. I buy towels every 5 years or so and this last go round I went a little crazy. Kohl’s was having a sale on their Big One towels and after a discount and Kohl’s cash, I could get them for $2.45 each. I know, right?!? Crazy price. Because there 5 of us, I always bought 12. I consulted with dh, who said to get more this time, especially at this price. I got 30. The old ones were turned into rags and napkins. I gave some to ds#1 when he moved out and the rest are still sealed in their plastic in the box. There are plenty if ds#2 decides to move out as well.;)

1. I have been taking solo vacations for over 40 years, and my personal favorites have been driving a loop through the southwest US (southern Utah, in particular, is stunning), and overseas, I’m a sucker for the charm of old cities. I’d love to spend time in rural England and Scotland but do not like driving outside of the US and Canada so I would not do that solo. About 2 weeks, plus or minus, is good for me.

3. Went with family to see the latest Top Gun movie, and before that, I think it was House of Gucci. Meh, and very expensive.

Annette says

Diana

Traveling alone is not for the faint of heart! Choose an activity based trip….example cooking in Italy, France, etc. This type of trip involves groups and often off-site activities. You’ll learn something new and make new friends.
Perhaps an activity relating to your interests, or something you’d like to experience!

1. Maybe this isn’t terribly exciting, but I’d love to go spend a few months in DC. I lived there for most of my twenties, but haven’t been back in almost a decade. I’d go see all of my favorite museums again and check out all of the stuff I never made it to. Walk the monuments every night.
2. I love a good peach, but think I’d have to go with apples. I eat one almost every day and never get sick of them.
3. I don’t even know.
4. We have a mishmash. How do you keep whites white?

4. Hodgepodge. Mostly solid colors, but we still have a pair of towels that we got for our wedding that have blue and purple puppies and kitties and paw prints all over them. 2. cherries
3. Avatar with my son and cannot remember what I saw before that.
4. My towels match my bathrooms. Each bathroom has its own set of towels that match its decor. I’m really weird about that and if I change the decor in a bathroom and the towels don’t match, they will go in the rag bin or I give them to someone. Then I buy new towels. I admit I have had some towels for more than 10 years because I haven’t changed the decor or they don’t get used that often. I’ve bought all my towels at the TJ Maxx brand stores and those towels last forever.
LaToya says
