If you’re looking for a spectacular place to buy pumpkins this fall and live or are traveling through Mid-Coast Maine, be sure and check out Bull Run Farm in Cushing.
Not only does this place have every imaginable type of pumpkin and winter squash, but it’s the kind of place that makes you feel good about buying directly from the person who grew them.
They’ve got warty pumpkins.
Queensland blue squash.
Cinderella pumpkins {my favorite!}
Plus all sorts of banana squash, hubbards and a few others I had never heard of.
They even have buttercups {which are great for roasting!}.
And of course pie pumpkins too. 🙂 Pumpkin pie… Who wants to wait until Thanksgiving to have a slice? Grab a pumpkin and make your own pumpkin puree for a pie. It’s eaiser than you think!
And what goes good with pie? Well, ice cream of course. Gingersnap pumpkin ice cream is one of my favorite flavors this me of year. And don’t forget to save the seeds and roast them later.

I guess I’ve been living under a rock but I’ve never seen warty pumpkins before! I’m gonna have to look for seeds!

My grandpa used to grow Queensland blues (for eating) in his garden – they’re great!

Mavis — I know this is the wrong post but if you’re still looking for one, Eddie Bauer sells a full body sleeping bag that looks a bit easier to move in than the selkbag.
