If you live in Maine, or are thinking about visiting this summer and will be near the town of Brunswick {home to Bowdoin College and L.L. Bean} you’ll want to be sure and stop by The Portland Pie Company for lunch.
Actually, the Portland Pie Company has 9 locations throughout southern Maine so you’re bound to find one if you need a fix. 😉
Truth be told, the name is a bit misleading, as it’s not a “pie” shop, but rather a pizza pie shop {and there is a HUGE difference if you ask me!}. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and hey, the pizza is really good too so what’s not to like?
The HH and I shared one of their Italian salads and each ordered a slice of pizza. I don’t know about you, but I love it when pizza places order slices of pizza!
The HH ordered a slice of cheese… Boooooorrrrrring.
And I ordered a slice with feta, tomato and basil {which was fantastic!}.
It’s the perfect place to stop by on date day, or to bring the whole family. We’ll be back That’s for sure.
Portland Pie Company, just another reason to visit the great state of Maine. 😉
Have a great weekend everyone,
Enjoy the sunshine!

We love Portland Pie! The Cape Neddick pizza is a favorite, and the seasonal menu always has some interesting items. They have a great rewards program if you download the app on your phone (free birthday pizza!). Also, Costco sells 4 packs of Portland Pie gift cards at a great discount!

Cheese topping is always good on a pizza, but yours sounds delicious. “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie…” I always thought it was a “piece of pie.” Memphis in the 50s was not a pizza place, but I finally learned it was “pizza pie.” Still, I would go in any place advertising pie and want a slice of chocolate pie.

One of the best slices I’ve ever had was from the counter at the back do Micucci’s, an Italian grocery store in Portland. I know there’s some controversy about whether they or Slab “own” a recipe, but their pizza is dream worthy. I’m usually a thin crust lover, but their soft billowy dough and slightly sweet sauce is incredible. (I.e., it’s a Sicilian slab, so don’t be mad that it’s not your usual slice.). I think it totally lives up to the hype.
