bits and bobs: A random assortment of things; small remaining pieces and things
Fall is all around us now and it’s absolutely beautiful! The color on the leaves are changing, there’s a light breeze in the air and the mornings are crisp. I am in LOVE.
I’ve been hard at work in the studio the past few nights putting the finishing touches on everything and should be ready to set out all our fall decorations in another day or two.
Being a creative person is really hard sometimes, the urge to stop everything and MAKE something and keep at it until it’s finished makes you feel like a bit of a nutter at times.
I’ve decided to load up the white picket fence with Halloween colored wooden buoys and now that they’ve all been sanded {thanks to the HH}, all that’s left is to add a little reclaimed lobster rope to the tops and put them in place.
Maine + Lobsters… It’s a thing. 😉
I am loving my studio space in the barn so much that I’m actually thinking of buying a wearable sleeping bag.
After all, I love puffy coats and well, if these will keep my legs warm too… why not, right? Have YOU ever worn one of these things? I wonder if it would be too hot or if it’s exactly what I need? Hmmm.
See Vermont at 10 miles a day. I spotted this in a magazine the other day and thought it was a clever idea. And then I did a little more research into it and was surprised at the price {especially for the upcharge for the fall dates.}.
Meals are included though, and so is transportation for your luggage as you walk from inn to inn.
And last but not least, a big thank you for all your ideas on lights for our teeny tiny nightstands. I finally found some I like and decided to order a set of them in black. Now I have no excuse to get a little more hooking and reading done in the evenings.
That’s it. That’s all I’ve got. I hope you have a great day.

I have those same lamps and love them. Great in a power failure too!
Tracey says
I have them too! White – in 2 heights – you have to be precise when searching on Amazon to unearth the white ones. They are my signature gift now.

Cannot wait to see those Halloween decorations! Already obsessed.
Holley says
I believe there is no need to stop all the other things and focus on the creativity! The other (un)important stuff can wait!!! ENJOY! I cannot wait to see the decorations!
Also, I would definitely wear that sleeping bag if it meant I could be more comfortable in the studio! When I was a child, I walked around in a regular sleeping bag because my dad kept our house so cold in the summer in New Orleans!!! I understand! I actually think I might order one of these for one of my daughters who is ALWAYS cold! She would love it!
Lana says
The sleeping bag would make me squirm. I am claustrophobic and if I got too hot I would panic. Also my hands are always cold so it would not help me unless I wore gloves or kept my hands in the pockets.

They have built in hand covers like the snowsuits for babies do

I LOVE Halloween! Looking forward to seeing your decorations.
Also, a lot of farmers I know where insulated Carhartt coveralls. Might be a less bulky option for you.
Diane says
You should paint a few buoys to look like candy corn!
Lesley says
I had this same thought!

If unzipping at the legs and chest could provide fast airflow to prevent body-area-specific overheating, then it might work; if those leg zippers are just pockets and if the chest is fully overlapped, though, I think I’d go for separate things, and layers rather than one unit.
(what I’d go for in your craft space would be a table with insulative material – a sleeping bag or something – draped down all sides and a small rug radiant heater under the table, so its heat is mostly trapped under the desk and funneled up to you. It might still not be enough to keep your hands adequately warm for fine motor skill work, though.)

I visited a friend in Spain years ago and the round dining table had a thick polar fleece tablecloth that hung down pretty far. Space heater was under the table. Pretty toasty in a very old apartment without central heating.

Excited to see your Halloween decorations!

I own that wearable sleeping bag. It’s cozy and perfect for nights when I am outside watching the northern lights or for camping or sitting on my deck in the cold months. I am 5’6 and it kind of swims on me. I should have sized down. I ordered the Selk’Bag and got a L based on my height and I should have gotten a S or M. So it’s hard to move in because it’s big but it’s toasty!
Tracey says
Thanks for this! I was wondering about sizing
Dianne says
Mavis,
Did you notice that you and your HH were also included on the trail map? Looks like it would be something unusual and fun, if you like to hike. It would be pretty and tranquil.
Looks like those buoys are going to be candy corn for the season. You probably have enough to change them up every season.
Linda says
I would worry about flooding the warm outfit before I could get it off in the bathroom. I like the idea of covering the table and using a heater underneath. I have heard those are toasty.
If my luggage can ride, I want to ride, too!
I saw a bedroom the size of yours on site Apartment Therapy. I thought of you.

I would just save up for heating in the barn using the same method you used for the Aga.
