Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
I ate a lot of bananas and avocados this past week. Both delicious, but neither of which seem like something people gorge on during the holiday season.
But then again, I suppose eating copious amounts of cranberries would be strange.

Spend More Time At The Beach
I’ve started collecting heart shaped rocks again on my beach walks. Once you spot a heart shaped rock… They pop out at you like crazy and they are SO easy to find.
Hopefully I’ll have enough to sell online in my Etsy shop like I did last year. We’ll see.

~Mavis
Goals I’ve Already Completed This Year
Go On An Adventure DONE
I went to England and had a jolly good time. Then the HH and I went to Québec City and had a good time there. I love to travel. Have I ever told you that?
In Stock and Ready to Ship by March 15th/ March 30th Now April 15th DONE!
I finally finished up all the major wool dyeing and pattern/kit making I had hoped too. All the “extra” wool is tucked away in bins so if I run out of wool in my Etsy shop I can whip up some more bundles in a jiffy. A summer off from dyeing wool… It’s going to be pretty rad.
Tidy Up / Clean Out / Purge DONE
We cleaned the whole house, inside and out. And then we sold it. Yee-Haw!

I’m sure I’m not the only reader who shook their head while reading about the book theft.
I’m dumbfounded at the level of depravity in our world. From petty to heinous. I pray I’m always surprised, at least in a small way.
Imagine NOT being affected. Yikes.
I thank you for your giving spirit.
Merriest Christmas!
Lindsey says
I like to think they were desperate for Christmas gifts and had no money so took advantage of a free offering.
Peg says
I’m curious if your opinion about this “new” house has changed. If I remember right, you didn’t seem real thrilled about it when you and your husband bought it. Do you like being back in town?
Mavis Butterfield says
We love being in town, there is always something going on. 🙂
eliz says
I haven’t read it, but was the reader for Paris in Love bad or something else?
Mavis Butterfield says
I came up in my feed so I thought I’d give it a chance. I didn’t care for the style in which it was narrated or that everything seemed like a short little “clip” rather than a story.
Paula says
Looking forward to your 2025 Goals. They are always inspirational. I love the Christmas Tree in the barn. We set up a small tree with colored lights for our night animals that visit. It is on our back porch. We have wild life cameras. We have seen deer, raccoons, opossums, a stray cat, and a skunk near the tree.
It’s sad that someone would take all the books out of a free library! I donate my books to a thrift shop for an animal rescue.
Peg says
I just finished reading Truman by David McCullough. It is 992 pages. Can’t even imagine how many hours the audio book would be, if there is one. It is excellent!
Mavis Butterfield says
I’ve listened to a few books by David McCullough and liked them all. Thanks for the suggestion. I am going to see if I can get Truman.
Aretha says
I listened to Truman while painting the front exterior of our house. Excellent choice!
BarbM in CO says
Why so judgey?! Perhaps a very broke parent was grateful to take every last (free for the taking!!) book to provide a little christmas cheer for his or her kiddos.
Mavis Butterfield says
I’m not being “judgey”. 50+ books were taken. From well worn paperback books to children’s books. Another free litle library in the area also had all their books stolen as well.
Holley says
It actually happens a lot in free little libraries all over the country. I belong to their Facebook group and I’ve seen several posts about this happening. Also, I have a friend that is constantly collecting children’s books for a specific free little library in the town near where she lives. It’s a very poor area that has a lot of children living in it. It has happened to that one as well. I try to always bring some books to her when I visit. It truly is sad.
