Yesterday we woke up to our first big snowfall of the year. Lucy and I LOVE the snow! I tried to get a picture of her outside running around the little race track we made for her around the backyard but she was too fast for us! What a nut.
With all the snow on the ground I decided to clock in at the buoy factory and get some work done {in my PJ’s of course!} Valentine’s day is just around the corner, can you believe it? We are already starting to see shop windows full of red and pink hearts.
The holidays around here are really a lot of fun. People seem to go all out with their decorations.
29 seems to be the magic number of buoys for the fence… I just have a few more to paint and then I’ll start painting the giant hearts I plan on putting up on the house.
Or rather the HH will be putting up on the house. Unless of course we get lucky and a line crew is nearby… You just never know around here. 😉
Red, pink and white, I think that’s a good color combo, don’t you think? Lobsters, hearts and stripes… Can you think of anything else I can paint on the wooden buoys?
I was beginning to think it was time to take down all the garland and red bows we put up for Christmas, but now I’m thinking of waiting until after Valentine’s day. What do you think?
Have I told you how much I love snow? It sort of makes the 4 months of the crazy cold we have to endure worth it. Especially when the sun is out.
The snow just makes everything more magical. It’s like a little blanket of happiness.
Maine. The way life should be. 🙂
I hope you have a great day, stay warm!

Bonnie in GA says
Those buoys are so cute! Heart bow and arrows might work. Or conversation hearts like ” Yes” ” Love You”. Lol.
Mavis Butterfield says
Great ideas Bonnie!!
Holley says
It’s so beautiful!!! I love how the town changes out the lobster trap tree decor too! I think the big red bows and garland look perfect for Valentine’s day!
Patty says
Keep the garland! Also, how about X’s and O’s on your buoy’s?
Mavis Butterfield says
Ohh I like the idea of X’s and O’s. Thanks Patty!!
Lori says
I keep our garland with red bows up until the end of February.
Lynn from NC Outer Banks says
Mavis, I’m sure your house is a “ must see” in the neighborhood. Leave those bows up through February!
We’re supposed to get snow down here on the NC coast as well tomorrow! 🙂
Emily says
In a cold winter climate you can get away with, and enjoy, that greenery through the end of February. We always left our wreath up that long in Michigan. Some days you need a little green to get you through the long winter.
Jane says
How about crabs with red not quite heart shaped shells?
Janet Lee says
Love the town lobster trap “tree.”
Carrie Valentin says
Leave your garland on the fence! Anything cheerful should stay until Spring! I left my mantle greenery and white lights and paired with a big fabric heart that I made, it is so cheerful during the cold winter!
Bea says
Paint some hearts and lobsters to look like sugar cookies with sprinkles, piping or M&Ms on them.
Deb says
If you are interested in changing up your outdoor decor maybe leave the red bow and either add another bow in pink o r some pink and red hearts on a rope added to the greenery.
Lucy from SC says
It even snowed in Columbia, SC today! We rarely get snow but this is the second time this year! I’ll get my joy from looking at yours, rather than getting it here!
Cindy Brick says
Xes and Os, Mavis!
“Love and kisses”
I’ve started signing off with them to family and good friends.
